These ‘places of sanctuary’ can built in just 5 days and function either on or off the power grid.

Nevhouse was honoured at the Australian Good Design Awards in 2016 taking out awards for Architectural Design and Sustainability, and was a finalist in the Social Innovation Category.

Ultimately, good design is about making a difference – on functional, economical, aesthetic and sustainable levels. For the individual and society as a whole. Applying one of the most rigorous evaluation processes in the world, the judges evaluated Nevhouse on: Form, Function, Safety, Sustainability, Quality, Commerciality and Innovation.

Nevhouse has the capacity to produce 40,000structures per year. Manufacturing is done through3rd parties until orders justify the set up of a localfactory. The factory supplies shelter for thedomestic market and with the added benefit of salesto neighbouring countries supporting GDP growth.

Each home is tailor designed to meet the needs ofcommunities in the nations we work and to give thosewho live in them a sense of safety and security. Theunique louvre design creates natural ventilation whilethe grooves cast shadows all day long cooling thesurface of the shelter.

Our medical clinics are designed in consultation withlocal architects in the countries we work in. Solarpanels sufficient to supply electricity all day and nightare installed on every structure – our clinics are fullyfunctional off the grid. We work with local healthauthority and aid agencies to fit out the structures withsupplies and equipment and secure staff.

Nevhouse secures local acceptance and participationfor any structure or community that is built – at everystage of development. This approach ensures thatthose who live in the community have a sense of prideand ownership. Local contractors are used where everpossible in order to give jobs, training and income tothe people who live in the community.
