Comments: Hi, I sadly lost our Weimaraner nearly three
years ago now, she was such a vibrant,
integral member of the family. We would
never be able to replace Elsa, but maybe we
could could love another Weimaraner in
need of a home. The Weimaraner is such a
noble, intelligent breed (not without humour
either). Greg Hogan

handsome boy Cooper who is 12 and has had
2 mass cell tumours when he was 8 then
gastric bloat when he was 10 - he is
obviously made of strong stuff and is
affectionately known as my shadow. The
young one is Alfie who is 3 1/2 and still daft
as a brush, but ever so cute. Great website -
very informative!

this year, he was only 6 years old and died
from a brain tumour. My beautiful big girl is
3 years old and was adopted from
Weimaraner Rescue 2 years ago, she has
made the loss of my boy more bearable. I
suffered a stroke in mid June and my girl has
taken it upon herself to become a 'helper' dog
& even pulls me in my wheelchair, i'm so
proud of her! Please don't let anyone
underestimate a Weimaraners intelligence,
loyalty & trust. Torre & I would like to thank
Margaret Craig of Weim Rescue for giving
me the honour of adopting my girl x

Comments: Hi, i have a 3yr old male weim called duke
or duckie as we call him. He is a lovely big
boy, but has taken a dislike to other male
dogs as we have not neutered him. We are
currently looking for another weimaraner as
a companion. He is very affectionate, but
loves to bark, of which visitors get the worst
of! Any advise on this would be appreciated.
He is now very good on recall but doesnt like
being on the lead, would like to get him more
socialised in a safe environment due to his
issues with male dogs, i would like to join
the club, so anyone wanted to sponsor us
would be great. x

Comments: I live in the beautiful state of Colorado in the
US. I stumbled apon your site while I was
searching Weimy stuff. I have two wonderful
Weims myself. A four and a half year old
male named Stokes, who is retired, and a
new female puppy named Ashleigh, who is
five and a half months old. I am of Scottish
desent, so I just had to take a look at your
wonderful wee site and sign in on your
guestbook. I love everything and anything
Scottish. I am proud of my heritage. I show
in conformation, and am getting ready to
jump into the breeding aspect of things. Still
have a few years to go, but now is the time to
start learning and prepairing. I can't beleive
that the UK has put a ban on tail docking. To
me that is just wrong. This breed looks so
much better with the short tail. If they are out
in the field, it makes things easier. They can
get broken or damaged to easily. I am
planning on Hunt Training my guy's soon. I
practice at home with a small freeze dried
pheasant wing. They do pretty well at
pointing it up. Mostly they just want to eat it.
We are on a little over five wonderful acres
with lots of Pine Trees, so the dogs have lots
of room to run and play.

was full of character and was my best friend.
I contacted weirmaraner rescue in 2006 and
was amazed by the number of weirmaraners
which needed re-homed. I re-homed Kaiser
(ottis was the name he came with) he was 7
months old. He was a fantastic companion
for Heidi an put a new lease of life into her.
She saddly passed away at Easter aged
13years. Kaisers is fine but I am considering
a companion for him. I would recommend a
Weirmaraner to anyone one with get up and
go and a sense of humour!

puppy and found the website useful in
getting some more information. I have
previously had golden retrievers as pets so
dont know too much about weimaraners.
Both my partner and I are active so are
happy for a dog to want lots of exercise. We
have our own company and the office is
situated close to a big park. Do you think a
weimaraner would be happy at an office
during the day (so getting company) as long
as he/she gets lots of exercise in the morning
and during the day? can you also recommend
a breeder?

Comments: I have had my Weimie for 5 years, since she
was a puppy. I have never owned a dog like
this. I have maintained the alpha position,
Wendy (the Weimar)is beta, and my wife is
gamma. Since she sat down on my foot at
age 4 months and went to sleep, she has
spent most of the time touching me or my
wife. We go for long, long walks in our
woods, and along the North San Gabriel
river. Well, she wants to go out.... We took
three teenagers to the British Isles some
years ago, and Scotland was our favorite. We
rented a car, and drove, and drove. And fell
in love. That's the reason I visited this site.

page to clarify that it is now illegal to dock
tails in Scotland? It is also illegal to transfer
dogs and pups out of Scotland to have them
docked in other parts of the UK. Owners
who do so can expect hefty fines and/or
imprisonment for carrying out this activity.

impressed. Now into year two of having
Allie our 5 year old rescue Weim. She came
to us at 3yrs, we being her 3rd owners. She
was totally out of control! She was/is hard
work, wilful and stubborn. She has to wear a
soft muzzle every time we take her out as she
'hoovers' the pavement in front of her, but we
would not part with her. Where we are she
is,she loves being close to you.She is
beginning to relax and show a side of herself
that has taken eightenn months to allow out.
We need to find a good kennelling facility
for her when we go on vacation and are
finding huge dificulty in doing so. Would
love to know where to find a Weim friendly
facility!

There are quite a lot of breeders now. As a
breeder and an owner of a bitch I would like
to do as much good for weimaraners as I
could. That is why I am looking for excellent
dogs with great hunting passion - for future
mating to my english Grzanka (that is her
name). Your website is very interesting, I
like the gallery very much. However, I
would like to find some info on the breeders
in Scotland too. Best regards, Agnieszka

owners of an 18 month old weimaraner

and is too cleaver for his own good. He has a
really cute scruff that stands up on his neck,
is this normal I wonder has anyone elses dog
got the same if you could let me know I
would be very grateful. Thank you

it would be nice to see a page with detailed
Docking related information, especially
advising people how they can voice an
opinion. e.g.

option to anyone concerned with weimaraner

When you buy a weimaraner you do not
realise you will never be able to go to the
toilet in privacy ever again. A loyal
companion to the end . The warmest
welcome you will ever recieve but the sadest
face when you have to leave alone. None the
less i am currently looking for a brother for

Comments: I have always thought Weimaraners were
stunning dogs, but I have never had one. My
parents have always had Border Collies. I
thought I would probably get one one day,
but was bitten by one this morning on my
way to work in Dundee. The dog was on a
lead and being closely controlled by what
looked like a responsible owner. When we
passed each other on the pavement, it lunged
and bit my hand. It didn't break the skin but
was very close to doing so. I have spoken to
my colleague and his dog was also recently
attacked by one. A friend also mentioned that
they were a bit mad when I mentioned that I
liked them. Any thoughts... cause I have
seriously gone off the breed!

weimaraners Merlin (was a rescue) and
Tosca (i have had since 8 wks). Merlin had
previously been treated really badly and had
apparently been beaten, this came to light a
few years ago when he developed severe
arthritus and had difficulty walking, we had
to get Merlin put to sleep a copule of weeks
ago, and we are all devastated. These dogs
are the best and have such good characters,
Merlin used to talk to use regularly and we
knew exactly what he wanted. We are
currently looking for another one to keep
Tosca happy as she is missing the big guy
big time. Look after your dogs they deserve
it.

Weimaranas, but 2 days ago I lost one....
Thainee..... my heart is broken- he was the
best thing that ever happened to me. I will
always remember him. He was the most
intellegent animal that I ever saw. Every
night we went to bed he would suck his one
foot- just like a baby sucking his thumb.....he
was the best-unfortunately one month ago
the VET started treating him for double
pneumonia....he just could not get better-and
I took hom to the VET every week....and on
Monday, 2nd Jan 2006, he died in my arms
in the VET's room..... they did some autopsy
on him and descovered that he had heart
probelms. For all the people in the world that
own one- please take good care of them- they
are your best friend.

Comments: Our 7 year old dog Monty has just had an
operation on what the vet called a dry eye.
He was not producing tears in one eye and it
caused a lot of discomfort and his eye to
close up. It was operated on this week and
things are looking good again. They moved
taste glands up from the mouth into the eye
so whenever he eats and smells food his eye
waters. Amazing but this actually seems to
have worked since he crys everytime he eats
now keeping the eye clear. It was well worth
it!

so)...this particular breed of dog has a truly

LOOK AT HIM!!! He's truly magnificent.

who did not have any suggestions so please

Comments: Hi Andy, Tracy and everyone else! Nice to
see the club is still going strong - a bit like
Hermann. The old boy is doing well and over
the last couple of years he has ran true to
form and started to calm down (even if only
a little). It has been a couple of years since i
have had contact with anyone from the club
but it is good to see so many pictures of
people doing things with these active dogs
and obviously all enjoying themselves. Good
website and excellent pictures. If i can get
the camera working i will send some over to
you. Keep up the good work. Bye for now!

Comments: Hi! I was searching for information on the
web that could help us and the veterinarians
find a treatment for our 16 month old
weimeraner pup (neutered-male). We
rescued him from an animal welfare agency
here in Connecticut, USA, in September
2003. He is a very active puppy and loved to
run with my teenage son. Around the end of
March 2004 we noted him developing a limp
in his left hind leg (his discomfort is clearly
isolated to the hip and not associated with his
lower leg or paw). He has always walked
with his left leg in a slight external rotation
and abduction. This has become even more
prominent over the past 2 months. He also
has a mass in the left shoulder muscle. The
x-ray of the hip shows mild dysplasia--all
vets including ortho specialist feel it is not
what is causing the limp/discomfort AND the
biopsy of the shoulder lump shows mast
cells. So we waited for 3 weeks at the
recommendation of the vet to re-x-ray the
left hip and see if any bone tumors show up.
Yesterday (May 12, 2004) the 2nd x-ray is
again negative for any bone tumors and for
any bone changes. The dog's limp gets
continuously worse and we are desperately
searching for any answers that may guide us
toward treatment. He has also had a complete
blood chemistry profile which was normal
WITH THE EXCEPTION that his eosinophil
count is markedly high. There is a disease
associated with eosinophils however his
symptoms are not as described in the
literature on this disease and therefore our
vet is dubious as to whether that is the
problem. Next we are going to try
acupuncture with a veterinaran who
specializes in this. If anyone has any
information you think may help us please
email us. Any response with information will
be so greatly appreciated. This pup has
brought so much fun and laughter to our
home and family and he has the greatest
sense of humor of any dog I have ever
owned. My 80 year old mother-in-law lives
with us and loves to read in the afternoons.
Duke (pup) will go into see her and if she
doesn't put the book down to pay attention to
him he takes his paw and knocks the book
out of her hands--sending it flying across the
room!! She laughs!!! Thank you for reading
and "listening" to our story. JM

impressed that I decide to join the club. I am
fortunate to have a 5 year old Weimaraner
dog called Solo who is the light of my life.
We are planning to do some 'fun' things with
the club before we let him loose on anything
to serious in the showing ring. He wont give
anyone any serious competition yet but he is
incredibly handsome..and he knows it!! Keep
up the good work.

we are also from Scotland and looking for a
breeder we may find it a little harder because
we live on the Isle Of Skye (5 miles from

able to help us find a breeder after the festive
period. We would be glad to recieve any
information on breeders in Scotland if it is
possible. Myself (Samantha) especially
would be greatful if you could help us home
one of these wonderful dogs.
