Personal story

Need a Feed was born in February 2013 due to my own circumstances years ago.

My husband and I had purchased his family house after his mum died, this left us struggling financially. I quickly found out that food can get pushed to the bottom of the list which can add to daily stresses.

As long as I can remember I have wanted to support the community, help those in need and change lives for the better.

Having sold my business in 2011, I thought “Now is the time” I have since made it my mission to make a real life difference at a local grass roots level. What a blessing it has been to have such a supportive community, husband and family!

ABOUT US

At Need a Feed we partner with various organisations who connect us with those who need food support.

6,700 families supported, 47 tonnes of food and personal care items have been distributed in 3 states!

Who do we support?

We are here to support people facing difficult, unexpected situations, Domestic violence, broken families, abuse, sudden illness or job loss - these situations and many more, can lead to food insecurity and money concerns.

We believe that you should ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover”

What do we do?

Distribution Day

Three times per year one of our partner organisations ‘host’ the Distribution Day.

The Need a Feed team bring in several hundred food hampers to distribute to those in need via the ‘host’.

We provide a friendly, all inclusive, comfortable environment where people are welcomed in to pick up a food hamper, fruit, personal care items, bread and share a sausage sizzle with us.

Various support services join us on the day to connect with and support those in need.

Emergency Food Relief

Emergency Food Relief is provided via a referral system to support those “doing it tough”

Community Lunch

Each school holidays we provide a lovingly cooked meal and a cuppa and a chat for those in the community who may need some company, connection and support.

Food Rescue

Regular food rescue from the local fruit shops and markets are distributed directly to local struggling families, Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre and some is used for our Community lunches.
