Students’ ideas
- Shorter stays (businessmen woman, professionals, and conferences) to reach
this group she would promote it in hotels and conferences.
- Demographic: young people and those who have understanding of technology.
- Put a pamphlet in the guest room or in the schedule of the conference and
promote at check in.
- Promote that this device is the best to visit the city in a period of short time.
- People can visit the city as their own rhythm
- From hotels until hostels (anyone can afford)
- Promote the device as “you control your own tour” instead of being pushed
along some group. independence
- Install a camera on the device and let them take pictures, at the end offer one
printed picture in a frame with our marketing.
- For study abroad programs: make a special price for young groups. The
students can bring their own family and friend and still have a discount for the
semester.
- Make partnership with restaurants and include it on the tour, where they will
also have a discount.

Priorities List (suggestion)
Financial plan:
1. Determine current financial situation
2. Develop financial goal for the this year, budget
3. Evaluate risk of investments (e.g. Europe crises)
4. Evaluate investments made so far (e.g. long term needs/expenses, especial
costs)
5. Research financially viable alternatives for the future investments
6. Review the plan and monitoring with regularity
7. Create a monthly(?) graphic with costs vs. sales
Action plan:
1. Find direct ways of selling our product (look at partners as a complement and
not as the main vehicle)
2. Plan Smartguide’s campaigns days on the street
3. Define timelines/deadlines for the implementation of new ideas (prepare as
much as possible in February to be ready in March)
4. Update contact lists for different fields of business (hotels, museums,
transportation, travel agencies, booklet cooperations, etc) and add new
contacts to be done (February)
5. Evaluate the ideas keeping only clear, realistic and measurable objectives
6. Determine steps to achieve those objectives

On 7 November 2012, Sara Matzinger <[email protected]> wrote: Dear Sir I am currently a second year student of the Master in Tourism and Communication at the University of Lisbon – Portugal. During the next school semester, as part of my degree, I will have to do a training period beginning in January 2013. I am sending this email to apply spontaneously to do an internship with your organization. This training will be my final project in which I will develop my final paper (training report). Over the past few years I have dedicated myself completely to tourism area. In addition to studies, I have always searched to complement my background with life experiences abroad, travels and professional opportunities which contributed to widen my horizons. As you can see in my enclosed C.V., I have a degree in Tourism and I have work experience in this area, like in a 5star hotel. I am sure that I will add value to you because: I speak fluently three of the world´s most significant languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese), due to my past experiences and natural skills, I am a very good communicator and I can deal with problems and solve conflicts. It is also important for me to have an exchange and share of knowledge and ideas. I always try to be proactive in my workplace because beyond learning from the opportunities, I also like to integrate my innovative ideas applying what I have learned during my educational degrees and to report to the superiors the points/services that could be improved, always in favor of the company’s success and development. Due to your prior qualifications I am quite interested in you.
Before granting the position to you let me just ask a few questions:
1. When would you be able to start and for how long would you be able to stay?
2. Would you be enrolling at IES or any other student program or would the internship contract be signed with your University?
3. Attached you see the internship contracts my US-students have to sign with Austrian institutions. Would there be a similar contract? What I mean is: are you insured through your University? Internships usually don´t pay therefore I am worried about your financial situation…
4. Are you taking care of your housing situation yourself or would you need help?
