farming

• Women were the ones how worked on the farm• They planted the three sisters know as corn ,

beans and squash. Corn provides a natural pole for bean vines to climb. Bean vines also help stabilize the corn plants, making them less vulnerable to blowing over in the wind. Spiny squash plants also help discourage predators from approaching the corn and beans.

• Corn, beans and squash also complement each other nutritionally. Corn provides carbohydrates and the dried beans are rich in protein. Finally, squash has both vitamins from the fruit and healthful, delicious oil from the seeds.

• When an animal smelled food inside the dead fall, it would crawl inside and a support leg would fall. Then a heavy tree trunk or stone would fall trapping and killing the animal.
