National philosophy of education(FPK)
• Outline all the terms , ideas and principles related to education.
• Combines the goals , policies and educational practice .
• Aim: To rationally clarify the current education and trend of education in future(Ministry of Education,1982)
Formulation of National Philosophy of Education
• FPK sparked off after Cabinet Committee report.
• “The manpower that we need…also from the discipline aspect..important to be honest and dedicated in their work….can think and act wisely..guided by a respectful character..need to be aligned to the aim of human development” by Cabinet Report,1979:227)
Rukun Negara(National Principles)
• To promote racial unity , balance and stability.• Reaction to serious racial riot known as May
13 in 1969.
The content of Rukun Negara
• Our Nation, Malaysia, being dedicated:• To achieving a greater unity of all her peoples;• To maintaining a democratic way of life;• To creating a just society in which the wealth of
the nation shall be equitably shared;• To ensuring a liberal approach to her rich and
diverse cultural traditions;• To building a progressive society which shall be
oriented to modern science and technology.
Principle of Rukun Negara
• Belief in god• Loyalty to king and country• Upholding the constitution• Rule of law• Good behavior and morality
New Economic Policy
• To eradicate poverty by creating more employment opportunities for all , irrespective of ethnicity.
• To restructure the country’s economy thus eliminating the identification of ethnicity with economic function.
Implementation of DEB
• Improve of productivity and quality of life• Increase Malaysian investment• Move the ration of economic ownership• Creates incentives for the expansion of large-
scale manufacturing industries.
