On 19 th March 2016, GTU celebrated the National Days of Jamaica, Czech Republic, Ethiopia and Tanzania. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. Since, last three years, MBA students of GTU are studying various aspects like culture, politics, environment, economics and demography of countries of the world. They identify the bilateral trade opportunity of Gujarat and India with the country of study and propose a detailed business plan to establish or improve the business in a specific industry. During the academic year 2015-16, students of GTU MBA institutes are studying more than 100 countries. GTU has started the unique activity of celebrating the National/Independence Days of the countries since August-2013, being studied under the GCSR program. The National Days Celebration began with lamp lighting by all the guests. On 19th March 2016, GTU celebrated the National Days of Jamaica, Czech Republic, Ethiopia and Tanzania. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. recited the National Anthems of India, Jamaica, Czech Republic, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Shreya Dave acted as the Master of Ceremony. Mr. Keyur Darji, Dr. Sarika Srivastava, Dr. Kaushal Bhatt, Dr. Jyoti Srivastava, Ms. Dhvani Vyas welcomed the esteemed guests by offering them flower bouquet.

(Retd), from the office of Honorary Consul General of Jamaica in India, Mr. K. H. Patel,

former Indian High Commissioner to Uganda and Ambassador to Rwanda and Burundi &

Member - BOA, GCSR GTU.

To celebrate the national days of Jamaica, Czech Republic, Ethiopia and Tanzania faculty members and students of Som-Lalit Institute of Management, Ahmedabad who are studying “Jamaica”, Christ Institute of Management, Rajkot who are studying “Tanzania”and Oakbrook Business School, Ahmedabad - who are studying “Ethiopia” and N R Vekaria Institute of Management, Junagadh who are studying “Czech Republic” participated in the event at Gujarat Technological University.

Mr. K H Patel, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR and former Ambassador to Rwanda addressed the students and

faculties and shared the details of GCSR program. He talked about business environment of Tanzania. He stressed on significance of English language. He said that students with good language command are more successful in global business. He offered the tips for improvement of English language. He talked about two

countries Tanzania and Ethiopia. He highlighted the significance of bilateral trade between India and Ethiopia. At last he said, “GCSR

provides golden opportunity to students.”

Dr. Brig. Pradip Mehta, VSM (Retd), from the office of Honorary Consul General of Jamaica in India, addressed the student. He highlighted basic facts of Jamaica. He said “India and Jamaica have traditionally enjoyed cordial and friendly relations, based on common linkages of history, parliamentary democracy, and membership of the Commonwealth.” Further, he said “The duty free business in Jamaica is monopolized by the Sindhi community.”

He said, “The Major Items of India‘s exports to Jamaica are motor parts, mineral fuels, mineral oils, textiles, cotton, readymade garments, industrial machinery, plastic and linoleum products, pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, artificial jewelry, and pharmaceuticals products. While Indian imports from Jamaica mainly consist of beverages, organic chemicals, steel scrap and other miscellaneous products.”

Further, he said, “Indo-Jamaica has bilateral relations. Both India and Jamaica are members of NAM, G-77, G-15, WTO, WIPO, UN and its various subsidiary bodies. Both being developing countries, share similar concerns and common aspirations for their

accelerated economic growth, eradication of poverty, improvement in the quality of life of their people, and promotion of equity”.

Dr. Shivendra Gupta, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR, addressed and welcomed all faculties and students. He started the speech with ‘vasudhav kutumbkam’ word. He gave tips for motivation to the students. He highlighted importance of student life and suggested students to do holistic development of

personality by playing sport and be moulded by good.

Prof. N.K.Goyal, President, CMAI association of India and Advisor of GCSR program, interacted with the students and appreciated efforts of GTU for having such succesful celabration. He said, “The students should progress in life and should leave the negative thoughts. Students sould make high aim in life to be scussful.”

Mr. Sunil Modi, in his address to students, conveyed students to

Change Globally and Think Globally. He said, “You are decisions

maker of what is right and wrong, so improve your knowledge

and be serious for future plan.” He shared his own experience.

He highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and shared

brief information about African countries with students and

faculties.

Dr. Kaushal Bhatt, Assistance professor–GTU proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers on behalf of GTU for gracing the National Day Celebration and sharing their experiences with the participants and faculty members of all the four institutes.

In the Technical sessions, the students from all the institutes presented a brief on the environmental analysis done on their respective countries, analysis of the

prospective industries of the GCSR country, prospects in Gujarat and the same at the allocated other state of India. They also discussed their learning outcomes of the company/industry visit.

At the end of the celebration, Centre for Global Business Studies- Gujarat Technological University presented awards to all the four institutes for their active participation in the National Days Celebration of Jamaica, Czech Republic, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
