The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a three-day
National Conference on Impact of Computing Technologies in Emerging Scientific Fields
(NCICTE’12) from 23rd
January 2012 to 25th
January 2012, in association with CSI Chennai
Chapter and IEEE Student Chapter. This conference has provided a platform for researchers and
academicians to share and exchange ideas on the various research topics in the fields such as
Computer Networks, Data Mining and Databases ,Artificial Intelligence & Cryptography,
Pattern Recognition and Image Processing .
The conference had four sessions spread over three days with expert’s key note addresses
and interactive discussions. Total number of participants who has sent their willingness through
mail to attend the conference was 75. Among them, 41 participants from various Universities and
institution across the country have been selected to register and presented papers in the
conference.
The experts and the resource persons were invited who have sound knowledge in the field
of Computer Networks, Data Mining and Databases ,Artificial Intelligence and Cryptography,
Pattern Recognition and Image Processing are, Dr. P. Arun, ECE Dept,RMK College of
Engineering & Technology, Pudhuvayal, Dr. R. Kannan Nehemiah, AP/Ramanujam Computing
Center, Anna University, Gundy, Chennai, and Dr. R.Baskar,AP/CSE, Anna University, Guindy,
has addressed with their key note addresses to the academicians and researchers during the
sessions.

On January 23, 2012, by 10.00 am ., the conference has started with the invocation. Then
as every auspicious function starts with a traditional way , LIGHT being the source of all
transitions and transformations, the conference officially inaugurated by lighting of
kuthuvillakku by the Chief Guest Thiru.A. AYYAKKANNU, Director/ Board of Apprenticeship
Training/Ministry of HRD/Department of Higher Education/Govt of India ,Southern region
,Chennai, Dr.M.Ponnavaikko,Vice-Chancellor.
Then the Vice-Chancellor has presented a bouquet to the Chief-Guest
Thiru.A.Ayyakkannu as a mark of respect and Dr. V. Poovammal, HOD of CSE dept, has
presented a bouquet to Dr. M. Ponnavaikko, Vice-Chancellor ,SRM University.

Prof. C. Malathy, Dr. S. Prabakaran, Convener of the Conference.
Then, the welcome address was given by Dr. E. POOVAMMAL, Head/CSE,
SRM University, with a warm welcome and pleasant speech which has given a spark to the three
day national conference.
Then, the chief guest of the inaugural function, Dr. A. Ayyakannu, was introduced by the
Prof C.Malathy , Department of Computer Science and Engineering about his career track and
the awards and achievements received by him. And also she pointed various posts held by him
in different government sectors and the present post in detail the role played by him the
department of higher education and the training provided to the engineering students across the
state and the off campus placement recruitment drive conducted by his department.

Prof. Dr. E. POOVAMMAL, Head/CSE dept addressing the gathering
The chief guest, in his inaugural address to the gathering, pointed out that the
Nano-Technology, Cloud computing, guidance and industrial training provided by the
department of higher education to the engineering students and discussed various real world
problems.
The Chief Guest was discussing about role of Computing technology in the thermal
plants , Ocean technology , Weather forecasting where young engineers play a vital role which
gave so much of inspirations to the academicians and researchers . And also he was mentioning
about the training which will be given to the faculty community in higher education which will
in turn mould the student community not only in the academic field but also with extra curricular
activities.

The presidential address to the gathering was given by eminent Vice Chancellor,
Dr. M. PONNAVAIKKO. During his speech, he highlighted the following
Evolution of the Computer Technology from olden age to Future.
We should have reasonable expectation of the problem.
Discussed the various computing technologies like Distributed, Grid, Peer to Peer,
Mobile, Cloud Computing technologies.
He also discussed about the future technology like E-Governance etc.,
The words of the Vice –Chancellor gave so much of energy and motivated the students,
faculties and the researchers to think innovatively in the field of Computing Technologies in
emerging scientific fields .Not only in these computing but he also discussed about how regional
languages can be used up in computers especially about Tamil Computing where Department of
Tamil Perayam , SRM University have taken up projects like this and so many other new
innovations in the regional languages.

After the Presidential Address, our honorable vice chancellor Dr. M. PONNAVAIKKO
has released the proceedings of the National Conference on Impact of Computing
Technologies in Emerging Scientific fields and the first copy was received by the Chief Guest
Thiru. A. Ayyakannu .
And this national conference has been considered as a Knowledge Hub for all the
Researchers from the various institutions across the country.
And finally Vote of Thanks for the inaugural function was given by Dr.S.Prabhakaran ,
Convener of the national conference.

Day 1 (23.01.2012) Time: 2.00 P.M - 3.00 P.M
Session I : Computer Network Communication
The first key note address was given by Prof. Dr. P. Arun, ,ECE department,
RMK College of Engineering & Technology, Pudhuvayal. In his speech , he has briefly touched
upon basics of Mobile Communication, and he pointed out the objectives of Mobile Networks
was to transform the inputs into meaningful outputs. Then, he described about unsupervised
approach to find out features from data and also about principles of GSM, which identifies both
Network Switching and Base Station Subsystems. He also pointed out many application areas of
Mobile Communication.
Prof. Dr.P.Arun was the Chairperson of the session to judge the papers .Participants from
various institution has presented their research papers.
To list out few participants of the session were 1.Mr.Dilip Singh Magadh has presented
the research paper on “Enhanced Security Model for Disabling Misbehaving Users in

Anonymizing Network”, 2. Mr.S. Saravanan has presented the research paper on “A Novel
Cache Replacement Policy for Cooperative Caching in MANET” , 3.Mr.K. Rajan has
presented the research paper on ”Roaming Agents for Distributed Instrusion Detection
System” , 4.Mrs. M. Poonkodi has presented the research paper on “One Way Delay
Calculation Using Sync And Sense Without Clock Synchronization In Manet” .
Day 2 (24.01.2012) Time 9.30 P.M – 12.30 P.M
Session II : “Data Mining and Databases”
The session was started with the key note address given by the Chairperson of the session
,Dr. R. Kannan Nehemiah, Asst. Prof., Ramanujam Computing Center, Anna University,
Guindy, Chennai. He discussed about the following in detail
Various Search techniques
Various operations in Genetic Algorithm
Evolutionary Computation techniques
The steps to apply Genetic Algorithm to an application
Various issues for Clustering
Benefits of Data mining, etc
The session then started with few participants and to list out few 1. Ms. S. Priya
presented the Paper on “A Hybrid Data mining model to predict the occurrence of Type-2
Diabetes” , 2. Ms. Divya. M presented the research paper on ”An optimized approach of
cluster distance bounding for high dimensional indexing” and so many later…
Session III : Time 1.30 P.M – 3.30 P.M
Artificial Intelligence & Cryptography:
The session was started was a key note address given by Dr. R. Baskar, Asst.Prof.,
Department of CSE, Anna University, Gundy, Chennai. He discussed about the various artificial
intelligence techniques which can be applied to medical fields , robotics and some of the real
time applications .
Afternoon-session started with the paper presentations and few participants were

Day 3 (25.01.2012) Time: 9.30 P.M - 12.30 P.M
Session IV : Pattern Recognition and Image Processing
The session has started with the key note address of the chair-person of the session
Dr. R. M. Suresh, Vice-Principal and HOD/CSE RMK Engineering college, Chennai. He has
motivated and ignited the young minds of the students and the researchers that one should
possess other skills apart from academics and technical skills such as soft skills and interpersonal
skills and some rules of life which will take us to the heights of the sky. And the session was a
mind blowing session with additional information regarding Self Assessment, Employer’s
Assesment, IT skill sets that a student should have like operating system, database technology,
Modeling tools, other languages also. Any Person life will get succeeded if they possess the
following
Team spirit, Leadership skills
Good Communication skills
Willingness to learn continuously
Personality Development

3.Mr.Antony T Joseph presented the research paper on “Signature Verification based on
Wavelet Transformation Techniques” .

Valedictory Function (25-01-2012) Time: 2.00 P.M - 3.00 P.M
Valedictory function started with the welcome address given by Prof. S.S. SRIDHAR
CSE Dept., with sizzling words which has given momentum to the function. And followed by
that , report of the three day National conference has delivered by Professor Dr. D. MALATHI,
CSE Dept., elaborating briefly about the conference activities which has concluded the
conference. Feedback from the participants were collected during the valedictory function and
few participants came forward and gave feedbacks and to list out few were 1. Ms.R. Saranya,
Kongu Engineering College,Perundurai 2.Ms. U. Swarupa, RMK Engineering College ,
Gummudipoondi, Chennai.

Then, the chief guest Prof. A. N. PARAMESWARAN, Dean(IIIC) , SRM University,
addressed the gathering and discussed some facts and figures about the students performance in
scientific and mathematical applications by touching the following
Information about Indian Students that was published in Times of India.
Provided the Information about the Computing Technologies and Impact of Computing.
Then compared the Human Brian with the Computer processing technologies.
And he concluded that Human Brain is a Wonderful Computing Technology out of all
other existing Technologies that are available.
