The Residential College project was with a site that layed itself out to interact with the surrounding campus buildings at UW-Mil-waukee. A site with residential housing across the street and large monumental buildings this attracted a medium scale building that could be inviting for both campus traffi c and residential traffi c.

With a unique site, comes a unique building. My goal was to create a building that was both interactive on the interior as well as the exterior. To solve the problem with this site, I allowed the shape of the building to form with the bridge as it was an overwhelming obstacle with this site.

Model with Context
The site interaction with the busy Brady Street area was a huge infl uence on the design. Access from both Brady and Pearson Streets were incorporated and connecting these streets was an important portion of my design. The stair designed to connect these streets is shown to the left.

The Bronzeville Jazz Center was a project that creating an interesting design element in fi tting in with it’s surroundings. My goal was to create a building that was intriguing on the shell and inviting on the interior by making the facade translucent in some areas and transparent in others.
Interior Perspective of Facade
The interior is designed as two large volumes that fl oat against this large atrium space in the entry of the building. An interesting facade casts many different shadows throughout the atrium and allows for the public to interact and inhabit the space.

Room for Repose is a project in which we were asked to design a room for travelers to relax, work, and get cleaned up in-between fl ights. My goal was to create hiearchy by placing the resting area on a second level which seperated it from the work and cleansing areas.

Within this space is a key component that linked the resting area, to the work and cleansing areas. The sculptural stair allows for two different views onto the landing strip of the airport, as well as a desk that is built in. With the mul-tiple views out, it allows natural light to fi lter through the space.
Habitat/Water Research Facility -Milwaukee Inner Harbor
The Habitat/Water Research Facility Project was a process that started from scratch, there had been no development on this land for years. This land was basically fl at but offered great access to Milwaukee’s Kinnickinnic River that eventually spills into the Milwaukee Harbor. My fi rst task was to break down the land provided in the upper left drawing. From there I wanted to gain access to the river, creating an island, and then putting channels through the island I had created.
