Naml-On
The easy effective way of creating enamels using (frit),
enamel powder.
This completely unique method will lead you into the
wonderful skill of fusing powdered glass to copper
Naml-On
The Naml-On box comes complete with everything
you will need for a successful Naml-On process
Naml-On
Comes with the Color Controller (CC), Mylar
reference sheets, design templates, detailed easy to follow instructions, a marker
and weights.
Mylar is an extremely stable material. It can be used for
many years.
Prepare the Overlays:
Take the Mylar grid and place it over the included template design.
Prepare the Overlays:
Trace onto the Mylar from the printed overlay designs included in the Naml-On kit.
Prepare the Overlays:
Cut out the black areas on the Mylar with an X-acto knife
Using the Color Controller “CC”
The Controller comes with a removable cover marked with registration points that correspond to the Mylar grid.
A base is designed to support the enamel piece being created.
Using the Color Controller “CC”
The lines on the Controller are reference points that match up with each of the Mylar squares.
Using the Color Controller “CC”
A piece of previously enameled copper is placed on the felt pad.
Using the Color Controller “CC”
Enamel adhesive is lightly brushed on the copper piece.
Using the Color Controller “CC”
Using the tweezers situate the first overlay so that the reference points on it line up with the points on the cover.
Using the Color Controller “CC”
Using tweezers place a weight on the top corner and then weight the opposite corner and then if necessary the side corners, to insure that your overlay will continue to stay in position until lifted.
Putting the Color On
Using a 80 ml. sifter with a small amount of the first
color, sift a coating of powder onto and through
the overlay.
This will be the beginning of the design form.
Putting the Color On
Remove the Color Controller, with the first
overlay and weights, leaving the enamel powder on the piece of enamel precisely where you need it for this
design.
Excess powder is easily removed to be returned to
the container.
Putting the Color On
The Color Controller is positioned back in its place
and the next numbered overlay is placed and
weighted.
Putting the Color On
The next color is sifted onto the copper, positioned
precisely because of the overlay reference points.
Putting the Color On
The process is repeated through the numbered
overlays, each time positioning a new color on
the piece of copper.

Firing the Enamel Round
For this demonstration we have used a three inch
pronged trivet and a four inch firing rack.
Firing the Enamel Round
Our firing fork is one most commonly used to transfer
small enamels into a preheated kiln.
Our Kiln is heated to 1400 degrees. Pieces usually
require 90 to 120 seconds in the kiln.
Finished
We polish the edges of our enamel pieces with an ordinary Dremeltm tool.
The Naml-On process is not confined to small pieces.
Instructions for a much larger color controller
designed for experienced enamellists will soon be
available.
Finished
Naml-On comes with one design, this should lead you
into creating your own images. Additional Mylar
grids may be ordered.
Naml-On does offer a number of pre-printed designs which are also
available.
We appreciate your time in watching our presentation.
