2003 (May) – now. Transferred to Food Research Centre (FRC). Worked on store insect
pests of cereals, being a research entomologist at the Grain Technology Department,
Food Research Center (FRC), Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC), Sudan. Besides
working on the insect pests of fruits, at the Post–Harvest Physiology Department, (FRC),
ARC, Khartoum, Sudan, with a special consideration to guava and mango fruit flies. My
work also include toxicological studies such as insecticide residues and mycotoxins in
food.

2002 – 2003. Worked at Elfashir Research Station where I established a one hectare
neem forest, did some entomological surveys and a questionnaire of the safe use of
insecticides in North Dafur State (six areas were subjected to this test).
2000 - 2002. Seconded to the National Health Laboratory, Federal Ministry of Health,
for two years. Bioassayed larvae and pupae of Anopheles arabiensis Patton and Culex
quinquefasciatus Say using some insecticides recommended for their control in
Khartoum State. Also appointed as a pesticides’ focal point for the medical sector.
Besides supervision of two master students in medical entomology.
1999 – 2000. Worked at Kassala Research Station, where an entomological survey was
done and the important pests of major crops were reported for the first time.
1997 – 1999. M. Sc. Study at Faculty of Agric., U. of K.
1995 – 1996. Contributing in establishing the Poisoning Information Centre at Barakat
(Sudan Gezira Board, Head Quarter.).
1991 – 1992. Led a technical team for large scale spraying experiments for cotton pests
in Gezira Scheme.
1990 – 1992. Contributing in the national exhibitions as a representative of the
Corporation.
May 1990. Transferred to the entomology section of the Gezira Research Station. The
work focused on biocontrol, chemical control and IPM of insect pests.
Nov.1988. Appointed as an assistant research scientist at the Botany and Plant
Pathology Section of the Agricultural Research Corporation. The work focused on
plant pathology, culture and subculture preparations, production of inoculums,
symptomatology, disease tolerance assessment, data analysis and interpretation, etc…..
March, 1988 – Nov. 1988. Study of “Transmission of watermelon mosaic virus”, Post
graduate student, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, U. of Gezira. A new virus was
reported. This was under supervision of Prof. Gasim A. Daffallah, Prof. Sami O. Freigon
and Prof. Omer H. Giha.

Reported Insects and Pathogens
1. Reported the water melon mosaic virus for the first time in Sudan (during a
discontinued master period at U. of G., Wad Medani, March – Nov, 1988. (Under
supervision of Professor Gasim Dafallah).
2. A parasitoid of the millet head worm (Heliocheilus albipunctella De Joannis). This
parasitoid was identified as Eurytoma sp. (Eurytomidae: Hymenoptera) at the
International Institute of Entomology, London. In 1992 from Elobeid area.
3. Two parasitoids of the millet and sorghum leaf roller (Euplemma sp.) were reported
and identified as Bassus sp. and Cotesia sp. In 1992 from Elobeid area.
4. Peristomeris sp., a parasitoid of the sesame webworm [Antigastra cataunalis (Dup.)],
Lepidoptera: Pyralidae in 1992 from Elobeid area.
5. A number of predators viz. Coccinella undecimpunctata L., Cheilomenes propinqua
vicina (Mulsant), Hippodamia variegata L. and different spiders and earwigs from
Elobeid area, Sudan in 1993.
6. The mango fruit fly (Ceratitis cosyra WLK) from mango for the first time in Sudan
(1996).
7. The invader fly (Bactrocera invadens Drew Trusta and White) form guava (Psidium
guajava L.) for the first time in Sudan.
8. The dried fruit beetle [Carpophilus hemipterus (Linnaeus, 1758)] from guava and mango
fruits 2009.
9. Unidentified coleopteran from mango and another unidentified worm from guava 2010.
10. Unidentified hymenopteran from Tribolium castaneum infested wheat flour (2012).
Patents
Three Patents registered in Sudan:
1. Use of temperature / time regimes in controlling the major store pest of flour (Tribolium

castaneumn Hrbst).
2. A new formula to replace the now used Abbott’s formula in the toxicological
statistics.
3. A New Formula of the insecticide Danitol – S® 50%.

* Ten years experience, teaching English language for four years at University of Holy
Quran / Wad Medani, (Faculty of Shareea and Law) and University of Gezira (Faculty
of Science and Technology),.
* Practical entomology at University of Kordofan (Faculty of Natural Resources).
* Practical chemistry, practical plant taxonomy University of Gezira, Faculty of
Education and Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
* General entomology and medical entomology at National Health Laboratory, Khartoum
and Elfashir University (Faculty of Environmental Resources).
* Helping in Supervision of two master students. One thesis entitled “Susceptibility of
Anopheles arabiensis Patton and Culex quinquefasciatus Say to some insecticides
used for their control in Khartoum State” .The other “Susceptibility of the mosquito
predator Anisops sardea to some insecticides used for mosquito control in Khartoum
State.” (2000 – 2002).
* Teaching human nutrition course at Faculty of Medicine, International University of Africa,
Khartoum, Sudan (2011).
* Supervision of a number of graduation dissertations in applied physics and rural development.
* Continuous guidance of the undergraduate, graduates and post – graduate who seeks
information pertinent to their field of training.
* Supervision of a master student in irradiation of wheat composite flour to disinfest it from
insect pests. Sudan Atomic Energy Commission (SAEC), Sudan Academy of Sciences (SAS),
