WINTER-SPRING 2018/2019 PROGRAM REGISTRATION PROCESS Please read the following information carefully

The starting dates for WINTER-SPRING programs vary depending on instructor availability.

Most instructor based programs will begin the week of December 31st

.

Must have a valid 2018/2019 Renewed/New Membership Card to register for all programs.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Registration for all programs, except those listed on the lottery

registration form will begin on Wednesday, December 12th

. Seniors may register at any

registration location beginning December 12th

at 9:00AM. Registration will be on-going.

Register at the Manchester Senior Center, the Community “Y” Recreation Center, Center

Springs Recreation Office, or at the Customer Service Center.

LOTTERY REGISTRATION:

• We keep all registration lottery forms submitted as PROOF OF EACH MEMBERS LOTTERY

SUBMISSION

• No other changes may be made to your class standings until “OPEN REGISTRATION”

beginning on Wednesday, December 12th

.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

If you registered for a lottery class and did not get in to the lottery class you wanted:

• Your name will automatically be placed on the class waiting list and a credit

will be applied to your account. No other changes may be made to your

class standings until “OPEN REGISTRATION” beginning on Wednesday,

December 12th

(at which time you may not attend this class until you have received a call from

the front office advising you that you are being enrolled into this class from the waiting list. The

instructor must clear this information with Missy Rankin, Recreation Supervisor, before anyone may

attend the class. Attendance sheets are taken into accountability. It is an unfair practice to others on

the waiting list if you attend this class before given permission to attend. We usually wait about a

month (30 days) before we open waiting lists, call you, and allow you to attend the class.) We

appreciate your cooperation.

• If you would like to register for another class, or check for lottery class

openings after the drawing, you can do so during “OPEN REGISTRATION”

beginning Wednesday, December 12th

Mindful Eating: Savor the Holiday Flavors

How do you meditate while eating? Slow down. Being mindful and paying attention to the food you consume could help you eat healthier, with more appreciation and intention. Learn how to make every meal a practice of awareness. Focus on the Food One simple way to eat healthier may be to simply be mindful when eating. And guess what, mindful eating doesn’t mean dieting or restrictions. It’s about taking a moment to take it in. There are a lot of methods out there, but we’ve simplified it for you. Ponder: Before you eat, ask yourself, “Am I really hungry?” Sometimes we think we’re hungry when we’re actually thirsty or bored or stressed. Check in, do you need nourishment in the form of food or do you need something else? Appraise: When your food is in front of you, take a moment. How does it look? How does it smell? Do you really want it? Is it more than you need? Slow: Slow down, like way down. Put your fork down between bites. Really chew your food and taste it. Slowing down helps your brain catch up with your stomach.3 Savor: Really enjoy your food. How does the texture feel in your mouth? What are all the complex flavors you can taste? Take a moment to savor the satisfaction of each bite. Stop: Stop when you’re full. Sounds so obvious, right? But hey, cleaning your plate isn’t necessary. By noticing when you’re full and stopping, you may avoid unnecessary calories and indigestion.
