How long does it take for a hard boiled egg to sink into a glass bottle? And will the speed change if another egg is soaked in a liquid first.

Page 3: My Science Experiment

I think that the egg with the liquid will go in faster than the normal hard boiled egg. I think this because the egg with liquid will be slippery and cause it to fall faster than the other egg. Also the heat and the liquid could work together to let the sink into the bottle faster.

Page 4: My Science Experiment

The heat from the match causes the bottle to

expand. The egg with liquid should go into the bottle

faster. When the matches burn, they heat up the air

inside the bottle and release steam as a part of the fire reaction.

Normally the egg will be in one piece once it's been sucked in.

You should not wait to long after you light the matches because they will burn out.

The pressure in the bottle causes the egg to fall in.

One hard boiled egg One more hard boiled egg dipped in a

liquid for one hour. Juice, vinegar….. One box of matches One or two scraps of paper Glass bottle with small rim

Page 6: My Science Experiment

1.Soak a hard boiled egg in liquid for one hour before experiment. [I used pomegranate juice]

2. Put scraps of paper and matches in bottle and quickly put the non-liquid egg on the rim of the bottle.

4. Get timer and time how long it takes for the egg to fall in.

5. Repeat procedure from step one with the egg with the liquid.

Data

The normal egg had suction but it did not go in the bottle, although the liquid egg had suction but went in after about thirty seconds.

Analysis of data

The normal egg had suction but it did not go in the bottle, although the liquid egg had suction but went in after about thirty seconds.

Conclusion

My hypothesis was correct. I would change how many scraps of paper I used, and I would have used smaller eggs. I would like to know if using vinegar would change what happened in my experiment? Also should I have used bigger scraps of paper?
