My name is Kim McLuen and I am best known for finding a cure for cancer.  My mom was stricken with cancer at an early age was eventually died from it.  Because of that, I vowed to end the suffering of this terrible disease.  I found this medical breakthrough at work in Boston, Massachusetts.

I was born on December 4th, 1972 in Phoenix, Arizona.  I was the much anticipated daughter of Paul and Chris.  My parents already had my brother, but they couldn't wait for their first baby girl.  After me, they had what we like to call "the accident", my sister, and my best friend, Stephanie.  I loved being outdoors as a child.  My siblings and I would spend endless hours making forts, swimming, and biking.  We also loved to create towns out of Legos.  I'll never forget the summer my family and I spent on my grandparents farm in Iowa.  We would swim in their lake, ride a motorcycle across the acres of land, and catch lightening bugs at night.  We would jar the bugs and use them as night lights during the dark nights.

As I look back at my lifetime, I am so thankful for my happy childhood and fulfilling life.  My life was a blossoming flower.  It started out as a small bud with so much potential to bloom into a full, fragrant life.  I am so lucky to have a family that loves me and that we are all healthy.  Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I hadn't become a doctor.  Maybe I would have been a teacher.  One never knows what the future would have held.  I'm looking forward to many more years of excitement.
