Project Name: Wozoco ApartmentsAlternative Name: 100 Wozoco, OklahomaArchitects: MvrdV - Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de VriesLocation: Amsterdam-Osdorp, The NetherlandsAddress: Reimerswaalstraat 1 1069 AE AmsterdamBuilding Type: ResidentialDesign/Construction Dates: Design [1994 - 1997], Construc-tion= [1994 - 1997]Completion Date: 1997Client(s): Woningbouwverening Het Ootsen Housing Association, Am-sterdam, The NetherlandsSize: Total= 7500
Wozoco is a residential building situated in Amsterdam, The Nether-lands, designed by a group of dutch architects, MvrdV.MvrdV aim to accomodate 100 appartments as demanded by thier client but the zoning regulation of the surrounding areas restrainted the structure to contain only 87 appart-ments and maintain the regulation by allowing sufficient sunlight expo-sure to the surrounding.MvrdV resolved this solution by cantilevering the remaining 13 units on the north facade which mets the requirements of the zoning regula-tion and the client.
This is a render of Wozoco Appart-ment in the day light. Tools used for this drawing: Rhino, Vray and Pho-tosop. The environment created for this render is made from mimicking photographs of the building. I de-cided to show this perspective of the building as it aesthetically displays the cantilevering units

1. RENDER : VRAY
This is a internal view of Wozoco Appartments at the corridor of the building.
The focal points leads the eye to the other side of the threshold making it appear more demensional. This scence is at the night time, thus illuminated interior and the darkness outside allows the window glasses to be more reflective.
Another internal render of this build-ing is displayed on page 4 and 5. This perspective is the interior view of the cantilever unit on the 6th floor.

1. RENDER : VRAY
This render is just after sunset set, at twilight which allows sufficient de-tails to be shown without too much exposure. The blue gradrient of the render also makes it seem more night like.

3. PARAMETRIC DESIGN : GRASSHOPPER
The outcome of this project was to create parametric design using Rhi-no plug-in, grasshopper.
Using grasshopper complex model-ling is possible and it also made it easier to make alteration and make prototypes and iterations rapidly.
I created two types of parametric design. One using surface contour and the other using fields.
With the surface contour I created a wave like surface and projected it. The facade is created with all the fragments with an dimentional wave like structure.

Using field I have generated patterns . The curves are interrelated to each other.

4. 3D PRINTING & PHOTOGRAPHY
A section of the case study model was cropped and re-modelled to 80mm/80mm/80mm. This chunk of the model illustrates the parametric form generated from the rhino plug in, grasshopper.
3D printing is for iterations of a project and also useful for model-ling complex structure which maybe difficult to do by hand.
