Multi-Operator Transit Information for Operations and Planning
Transit Service Information Portal (TSIP)
What the Heck is a TSIP???
Vision – A TSIP will enable the efficient flow of transit service information supporting operations, planning and customer information for all systems in NY Metro (and ultimately statewide) within and among agencies and to the public via 511 and other innovative 3rd party information applications.
511NY – Expands TRIPS123 Transit Itinerary Planner Function

Most Significant Challenge of Multi-Agency Transit Trip Planner
Maintaining consistent supply of current accurate schedule data from multiple independent agencies.
Avoid introducing ANOTHER single purpose application that requires transit agencies to maintain another redundant set of schedule data.
Schedule Data Profile (SDP) & Web Data Maintenance System (WDMS)
Tools to supply service/schedule data to 511NY
SDP – Provide a robustly defined XML exchange format to permit agencies with existing schedule systems to develop a standard export file serving multiple downstream ITS applications, including 511
WDMS for agencies that don’t have scheduling systems. User-friendly, browser-based schedule data management tool that combines Google Mapping and SDP formatted data

Web Data Maintenance System
Uses SDP as data structure
Web-based forms and maps to support management of schedule data
Provides SDP XML export feature that agencies can use to supply schedule data for other application (GIS, Timetable publishing, AVL/APC, etc.)
Web Data Maintenance System (WDMS) Map Editing Interface
Browser-Based Forms for Managing Schedules
How can a TSIP Define and Support the Next Steps in Transit Information?
Build on consistent, current and accurate multi-agency schedule data.
Incorporate new streams of information AVL, APC, AFC…
Support exchange of operational and planning info among operators and to the public?
Make consistent and useful information available to a broader array of public information outlets (Google Transit, Where is the Bus, etc.)?
