DANCING IS FUN-TRY IT! Article by: Farah Khairul Azhar Dance is a good pastime for people all over the world. It can be defined as a rhythm of body movement to music that can be done by 3 ways such as individually, in pairs and in a group. There are two types of dancing which are fast tempo and slower tempo. Most teenagers like the types of dancing that would be with a fast tempo. For example, mambo, salsa, jazz, freestyle, rave, hip hop and funk and many more. Different with young people, older people prefer dances with a slower tempo such as ballroom dancing, folk dancing, traditional dancing and others. Indeed, dancing becomes a popular activity as it is for many other reasons. Many people treat dance as a form of exercise as it provides a good workout to help us build our stamina and tone our body. For example, we can have a good posture and body alignment because dancing encourages us gentle stretch and strengthens our cardiovascular system when we swing and sway. Furthermore, dance help to release tension and frustration. This is because in our body provides endorphin, a fluid chemical in our brain to combat stress and pain as well as provides mood enhancement. So, it is not possible that our emotion will feel relax, cool and better after dance.

Dance is a good pastime for people all over the world. It can be defined as a rhythm of

body movement to music that can be done by 3 ways such as individually, in pairs and

Most teenagers like the types of dancing that would be with a fast tempo. For

example, mambo, salsa, jazz, freestyle, rave, hip hop and funk and many more.

Besides that, dance can contributes to increase personal confidence. Many people,

who really love to dance and want to learn it, will feel shy and fear. These types of

emotions will stop them to show their talents in front of people. That’s why, it is

important to take dancing class, which gives opportunities for young people to have

social gathering. From this event, they can gather and socialize while enjoy their

favourite pastime with others. From here, they can make many friends during a dance

session and would not feel ashamed to share the same interest with everyone there.

Moreover, dance can be making as profession or future career. Many types of dance

require a lot of skilled movements which can only be achieved if one has gone

through an intensive training. So, people who are interested in dance can devote their

lives to work as a professional dancer or instructor. This career also can help them to

earn more money by joining the event that be organized by government or private

association.

Lastly, dance remains rituals among natives. In these communities, dance

performance is a very meaningful as symbolize of respect to the spirit or an occasion.

The community will dance during festivals such as in the harvest festival and

celebration. Some native communities also perform dance to appease and worship the

spirit which they believe will bless them in return. Many foreigners like this type of

dance cause of a unique and some of the dance is full with mystic element. As a

result, it is approve that dance is a good way to learn the different culture and practice

for a society.

In conclusion, there are many benefits of dancing eventhough it does not have same

function in our modern life. Therefore, it is an activity that is worth trying out as

many people think that dancing is an enjoyable form of entertainment and art since it

will aspire to enhance ourselves physically, emotionally and socially.
