CLUB CORNER Aim High - Members voted to donate $300 to the fair board's multipurpose building project. The teen leadership group shared with the younger/newer members ideas and tips to better prepare for and "survive" fair week. Various forms relating to fair projects, auctions, etc. were completed with the assistance of leaders. Plans were made for the June 10 meeting which will include cleaning the ditches along Baseline Road. Families signed up to work a shift for the food stand. Congratulations were given to Bob and Barb Coldwell who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary -- everyone is invited to a public open house on June 9, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at First Church of Christ. Barn Yard Kids - Our meeting in March was low on the attendance side, due to weather. We discussed the Maple Syrup Festival and our community service serving breakfast at the festival. We figured out our plant sale fundraiser for May 17 and 18 at the Clare Amish Flea Market. Rescheduled road side clean up for later in the year. Bowen Busy Bees - Started their May meeting with the introduction of the new Administrative Leader, Briana Allen. The change is effective in June. Discussion followed on topics of financial donations, community service options, and fair expectations. After the meeting members were encouraged to pick up and ask questions about any project record sheets as well as any other items relating to the fair. The June meeting will be focused on signing up for fair entries and a few community options. Farm Hands - At our last meeting in May all the members signed up for fair. We talked about our work shifts for fair week. We also passed out the rest of the sweatshirts and t-shirts. Pine River - At our May meeting we met at Payden Park for a roadside clean up/ barbecue/ softball game. Tally-Ho - We enjoyed spending Maple Syrup Festival in Shepherd together. The members had a soup/chili sale Saturday during the Car show. Then on Sunday morning they volunteered to help serve pancakes for a busy breakfast shift. The members from age 4-17 along with parents and grandmothers had a fun but busy and tiring time. Town & Country Maple Leaves - In May we had a bake sale at Tractor Supply Company and sold 4-H paper clovers. For our meeting we did a make it-take it workshop to help teach members projects and also had a potluck.
