Hammurabi’s Code• First official set of laws was founded by
king Hammurabi.
– People believed he was called on by god.
• Nearly 4,000 years old (3,785 to be exact)– The Code consists of 282 laws, with
scaled punishments, adjusting "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth“.
MORE LAWS• If a doctor operates on a man for
a severe wound or a tumor and causes the man to die, his hands shall be cut off.
EVEN MORE LAWS
• If a man takes a woman to wife, but has no intercourse with her, this woman is no wife to him.
LAST LAW• If a man is married and his wife
becomes ill, he may marry a second wife. However, he may not divorce his first wife, who should live in his home and be supported by him until she dies.

Soviet Russian dictator Joseph Stalin was a terrible enemy of the Ukrainian nation. He killed seven million Ukrainians in the 1933 famine. During World War II he also probably killed millions but the statistic is unknown.
