Welcome to Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy!Hello parents and students! My name is Pamela Groves and I teach Biology at Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy. Originally from Harlingen, I earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin before returning to Harlingen to pursue my passion of teaching. Since then I have earned my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and am currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Over the past 8 years I have taught nearly every math and science subject from 6th grade through 12th grade and have found a home here at Cano where I have the opportunity to be a digital classroom teacher. I am also proud to serve as a cosponsor of the Freshman Class. My hope is to instill in my students a love of science and the ability to become lifelong learners. I want to help all of my students discover their passion here at Cano Freshman Academy. Go Ravens!!!!
As a digital classroom teacher, my students will be exposed to a high level of technology integration and we will attempt to be nearly paperless. Students are welcome to bring their own devices and we will use them often; however they must follow handbook rules and only use their technology in the classroom when asked to do so. I will have a class set of Ipads for students to use and we will use them beginning the first day of school.
