Personal Profile

I am a highly motivated and experienced Manager who is reliable, trustworthy and responsible. An excellent communicator who can manage disputes and concerns with empathy. I am organised, neat and calm, able to prioritise my work load and work to my own initiative. I have excellent admin skills, knowledge of R4 booking system, Microsoft word and Excell programs, as well as proficiency in minute-taking and extensive experience liaising with clients.

Work Experience

Prestbury Dental Centre, Prestbury Road, CheltenhamDec 2007 – February 2016

Practice Manager

I was employed at the Prestbury Dental Centre, where I climbed my way to the Practice Manager position. I started with the company as a Receptionist in 2007, within six months was made Senior Receptionist . I then continued to train and became Assistant Practice Manager and finally reached my current position as above from April 2015 when the previous Practice Manager retired. My practice was initially a very busy NHS/private practice but reduced in recent years. We had the Practice Principal (Dentist), two Hygienists, Nurses and Receptionist. I led the team by holding regular Practice meetings and workshops where we updated ourselves to include current CQC and Safeguarding requirements as well as all other aspects of the dental practice Governance. My role included managing the team on a daily basis including staff inductions, record keeping, organising regular staff meetings, staff appraisals, arranging staff training and keeping everyone motivated. Allocation of holiday requests (to ensure staff rotas meet the needs of the practice), handling patient complaints effectively and efficiently, meeting with company reps who visited the practice, organising servicing and repair of equipment etc, dealing with staff disputes and generally everything that arose during the day in running a dental practice including ensuring the appointment book ran on time was key within my role. My commitment to the Practice was vital to the patients satisfaction at all times. I operated an open-door policy with the staff so that we could clear up any problems as quickly as possible. I was also a good delegator so as to ensure everything was running efficiently. My main objective was to have a happy and efficient team so as to provide patient satisfaction at all times. I regularly attended the Gloucestershire Independent Dentists training courses held locally and the regional Denplan Managers Forums . I have gained a wealth of knowledge and certificates as a result. The practice went into administration on February 29th 2016 from when we were made redundant but I continued to support both the patients and my team until the end.

The Cheltenham Ladies College, Bayshill Road, Cheltenham Nov 1992 – Dec 2007

Housestaff

During my time at The Cheltenham Ladies College my location of work was at St Margaret’s, a boarding house for pupils. My role as Housestaff was to provide pastoral care to 62 boarding house girls. This included organising and booking doctor appointments, all aspects of childcare, liasing with parents and receiving all visitors to the house. My main duty was to care for the girls however; much of the role included office work including answering the telephone to parents, teachers, and staff from other houses and dealing with all the queries. It was essential to make quick decisions when necessary. The computer work involved electronically sending of absentee lists, extra -curricular activity lists and emailing other houses with queries etc. Accuracy was paramount with these duties.
