1. INTRODUCTION
FORE and MBA education in India:
The ever-expanding Indian economy has led to an increase in the appetite for management education in
the country. Currently, MBA is one of the most sought after post-graduate degrees amongst the Indian
populace. The number of students giving CAT has been growing exponentially and this is evident from
the fact that more than 2 lakh students from all over India appeared for CAT 2010. With the growing
demand for an MBA degree, new business schools are mushrooming in every nook and corner of the
country.
The MBA degree as a designation originated in the United States, emerging as the country industrialized
and companies sought out scientific approaches to management. The first American business school,
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, was established in 1881. This was 62 years after the
world's first business school ESCP-EAP was established in 1819 in Paris. In India, Faculty of
Management Studies, Delhi University, is the oldest business school but the MBA degree as such has
only gained popularity since the turn of the century.
FORE is currently one of Indias leading business schools. Various surveys place it amongst the best
business schools in the country and the institute is striving hard to break into the top 10.
Fore stands for 'Foundation for Organizational Research and Education'. FORE was established in year
1981 as a non-profit institution fore advancement of Management Education, Research, Training and
Consultancy. Since its inception, FORE has been working with industry and academia for developing
new domains of managerial thought and education and contributing to building leaders in global business
environment.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDM) is a two year full time programme provided
by institute, it is one of the flagship programme of the institute. It focuses on comprehensive
understanding of the corporate world, integrating the theoretical knowledge with the practical aspects of
organizational settings and techniques of management, conceptual and analytical abilities required for
effective decision making and personality development.

BACKGROUND
Statement of Problem:
Our group is studying the effectiveness of the FORE PGDM programme; for this we have conducted
various surveys and tests to observe the effectiveness of PGDM at FORE. We have got the questionnairefilled by both the first year as well as second year students for this. The aim is to get a clear understandingof the students perception about the teachings and learnings from FORE.
Research Objectives
We wish to explore the factors by which the PGDM course at FORE adds maximum value. We wish to analyze whether these 2 years of PGDM education at FORE really adds value to an
individual in various ways.
We wish to map the responses of students currently studying in the PGDM course at FOREindicating the different factors which have added value to them.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY/DESIGN
Type of research design:
We have used both primary and secondary sources of research
Primary sources of Research:Wehave used the following primary source of research-
Surveys: we conducted an online survey with 240 students out of which we received responses fromapproximately 60 students. In the survey we had given the respondents a few situations and they had tochoose their most probable action from a list.
Secondary sources of research: we used inputs from EBSCO.
