Clinical Thoracic Surgery Experience

I was privileged to have my General Thoracic Surgery Training at University of

Göttingen Teaching Hospital “Klinikum Bremen-Ost” and University of Duisburg-Essen

Teaching Hospital the 1st center of excellence for thoracic surgery in Germany

“Thoraxzentrum Ruhrgebiet”, mentored by Prof. Erich Hecker. After completion of

thoracic surgery training, I Joined Faculty of Medicine at JUST in 2009 and since then I

have been practicing in Department of Surgery and Urology. My practice focuses on the

adult as well as pediatric thoracic surgical conditions. This include but not limited to

surgical treatment of thoracic malignancies including esophageal malignancies, structural

lung disorders, thoracic surgical infections, benign esophageal disorders, and surgical

chest infections. Most of my surgeries are performed using minimally invasive

techniques “Key-Hole Surgery”.

Teaching Experience

As soon as I joined the Faculty of Medicine, I participated in all teaching activities of

undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and training. I was honored to be the General

Surgery Course coordinator for the 4th year medical students for one year then for 6th year

students for 6 years. After that I was assigned as a program director for General Surgery

Residency Training Program.

The undergraduate teaching experience include:

1. Conducting lectures and moderating seminars

2. Supervising Morning Reports, Grand Rounds, Mortality and Morbidity meetings,

Journal Clubs

3. Clinical bedside teaching

4. Small groups discussions in the outpatient clinics

5. Clinical teaching using simulation in the clinical simulation laboratory using high

fidelity simulator.

6. Organizing and arranging clinical exams for medical students in the above-mentioned

periods

7. Organizing and coordinating all Objective Clinical Skills Examination OSCE during

the above-mentioned periods

8. Distance Online Learning in the COVID-19 pandemic

9. Virtual Clinical Teaching in the COVID-19 pandemic







10. Organizing Distance Online Assessment and Examination for all clinical years in the

academic year 2019/2020.

The postgraduate teaching experience include:
