BTEX Unit

BTEX Unit BTEX units are used to hold the toxic liquid elements (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene) removed from natural gas.

BTEX are usually paired with a Dehydrator and should be considered additions to the treating final solution.

Emissions Controls are Growing.

The Clean Air Act limits the amounts of heavy hydrocarbons (a.k.a. Volatile Organic Compounds) which may be emitted from a facility to 250 tons per year. Aromatic compounds such as benzene are further classified as Hazardous AirPollutants and are limited to 25 tons per year total aromatics and 10 tons per year of any individual aromatic.

Eventually BTEX units will become mandatory.
