LOGODrive graphic programming interface

The LOGODrive graphic programming interface is integrated in the MOVITOOLSoperating software. Function blocks can be graphically entered or connected with theLOGODrive interface.

MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters comply with the regulations in the Low VoltageDirective 73/23/EEC.

Electromagnetic compatibility EMC

The designated use of MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters is as components forinstallation in machinery and systems. They comply with the EMC product standard EN61800-3 Variable-speed electrical drives. Provided the information relating to EMCcompliant installation is complied with, they satisfy the appropriate requirements for CE-marking of the entire machine/system in which they are fitted, on the basis of the EMCDirective 89/336/EEC.

MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters are fitted with an input filter as standard. Theycomply with limit value class B (1-phase) / A (3-phase) to EN 55011 on the line sidewithout further measures.

The CE-mark on the nameplate indicates conformity with the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC and the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC. We can issue a declaration of conformityto this effect on request.

The UWS21A option converts RS-232 signals (e.g. from a PC) into RS-485 signalswhich can then be sent to the RS-485 interface of the MOVITRAC® 07.

RS-232 The connection between the UWS21A and the PC is made using a shielded, commer-cially available serial interface cable.

2.6 MOVITOOLS software with graphic programming interface LOGODrive

MOVITOOLS can be used for starting up the drive and setting its parameters.

The LOGODrive graphic programming interface is an integral part of the MOVITOOLSoperating software. Function blocks can be entered and connected in a function planwith the LOGODrive interface.

MOVITOOLS is supplied on a CD ROM. You need a PC with the Windows® 95, Win-dows® 98 or Windows NT® 4.0 operating system.

2.9 Braking resistors, BW series

The flat-type resistors have IP54 enclosure and are equipped with internal thermal over-load protection (cannot be replaced). Depending on the type, the resistors can be inser-ted into the inverter’s heat sink and screwed into place. If the brake resistor in notinstalled in the heat sink, it can be mounted with BS touchguard on a DIN rail.

3.3 Motor selection

Basic recommen-dations

• Only use motors with a thermal classification of F at least.

• Use TF or TH thermistor sensors.

• 4-pole motors should be preferred. This particularly applies to geared motors whichare operated with a high oil filling level as a result of their vertical mounting position.Oil churning losses are getting high using 2-pole motors.

• Generally speaking, the motor can be operated at its listed power without forcedcooling if the operating conditions differ from S1-mode.

• Avoid selecting a motor which is too large, especially in case of a delta connection.Otherwise, the inverter may trigger a short circuit detection function due to the smallwinding resistance of the motor (1/3 that of a star connection).

Motor selection

Voltage/fre-quency charac-teristic

The asynchronous motor follows a load-dependent voltage/frequency characteristic inV/f operating mode. In VFC operating mode, it is possible to achieve full motor torquedown to minimum speeds because the motor model is continuously calculated. Thecharacteristic curve is set by entering the rated motor voltage and the rated frequencyof the motor during startup using the integrated operating panel. The setting determinesthe speed-dependent torque and power characteristics of the asynchronous motor.

The MOVITRAC® 07 output voltage is limited by the supply voltage which is connected.

Dynamic applica-tions

For dynamic applications, it is necessary to have a drive with an inverter rated currentgreater than the motor rated current.

Both the current limit P303 and the slip compensation P324 are set during startup usingthe integrated operating panel so the motor can develop up to 150 % of the motor ratedtorque.

These parameters must be increased to about 1.4 times higher values for dynamic applications.

3.4 Overload capacity

MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters permanently calculate the load on the inverter out-put stage (unit utilization). Consequently, they enable the maximum possible power tobe output in each operating status. The permitted continuous output current depends onthe ambient temperature, heat sink temperature, supply voltage and PWM frequency.The inverter reacts to a higher than permitted load by outputting the F44 Unit utilizationfault message and performing an immediate switch-off.

The following diagrams show the temperature/time characteristic of the units. The in-verter automatically reduces the switching frequency if the corresponding limit valuecharacteristic curve is reached in a specific switching frequency setting.

Brake connection

3.5 Brake connection

Refer to the Geared Motors catalog and Drive Engineering – Practical Implementation,Vol. 4 for detailed information about the SEW brake system.

SEW brake systems are DC operated disc brakes which are released electromagneti-cally and applied by spring force. A brake rectifier supplies the brake with DC voltage.

The brake rectifier is switched off in the AC circuit.

Always operate the brake via DO02, not via the PLC!

Binary output DO02 is configured with a control voltage of +24 V / Imax = 150 mA / 3.6 W.This means a power contactor can be controlled directly with a 24 VDC coil voltage. Thebrake is switched using this power contactor.

3.6 Supply system and motor lines

Permitted volt-age supply sys-tems

MOVITRAC® 07 is intended to be operated on voltage supply systems with a directlygrounded star point (TN and TT power systems). Operation on voltage supply systemswith a non-grounded star point (for example IT power systems) is permitted. In such acase, SEW recommends using an earth-leakage monitor according to the PCM (pulsecode measuring principle).

Fuse and core cross section

Comply with the regulations issued by specific countries and for specific machines regarding fusing and the selection of line cross sections.

The line cross section of the motor line should be selected so the voltage drop is as smallas possible.

When using several one-phase units, the common neutral has to be selected in size depending on the total current, even if the units are connected with all three systemphases distributed since the supply system harmonics is always added.

An excessively high voltage drop means that the full motor torque is not achieved.

The brake rectifier must have its own supply system lead for inverter operation; supplyfrom the motor voltage is not permitted! See the wiring diagram!

3.8 Installation notes

The designated use of MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters is as components for instal-lation in machinery and systems. They comply with the EMC product standard EN 61800-3 Variable-speed electrical drives. Provided the information relating to EMCcompliant installation is complied with, they satisfy the appropriate requirements for CE-marking of the entire machine/system in which they are fitted, on the basis of theEMC Directive 89/336/EEC.

MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverters are fitted with an input filter as standard for compli-ance with limit value class B (1-phase) / A (3-phase).

Interference immunity

With regard to interference immunity, MOVITRAC® 07 meets all the requirements stipulated in EN 50082-2 and EN 61800-3.

Interference emission

Higher levels of interference are permitted in industries. In such an environment, it maybe possible to dispense with the measures described below depending on the situationof the power system supply and the machine configuration.

Shielded motor feeders or HD output chokes can be used on output side only as possi-ble solutions for EMC compliant installation in accordance with EN 55011, limit valueclass B.

Connection The MOVITRAC® 07 frequency inverter will have been installed in an EMC compliantfashion provided it is connected as described in the Installation section.

Connect the output choke in accordance with the Installation section.

Conductor end sleeves

The terminals are designed for installation without conductor end sleeves.

3.9 Electronics cables and signal generation

Cable type The electronics terminals are suitable for cross sections up to 1.5 mm2 (AWG16) withoutconductor end sleeves and up to 1.0 mm2 (AWG17) with conductor end sleeves.

Use only shielded cable. Route electronics cables separately from power cables andcontactor control cables or braking resistor cables. If using shielded electronics cables,earth the shield at both ends.

0 V cables 0 V cables GND are never connected for generating signals. The 0 V cables of severalelectrical units which are connected together should not be looped from unit to unit, butrather wired up in a star configuration. This means:

• Install the units in adjacent switch cabinet compartments rather than distributingthem widely.

• Lay the 0 V cables with 1 mm2 (AWG17) cross section from a central point to eachindividual unit by the shortest possible route.

Coupling relays If coupling relays are used, they should always be ones with encapsulated, dust-protected electronics contacts, which are suitable for switching small voltages and cur-rents (5 – 30 V, 0.1 – 20 mA).

Binary inputs/out-puts

Binary input commands can also be issued directly as 0/1 commands from a PLC instead of using a coupling relay. See the Technical Data section for the signal level.

The binary outputs are short-circuit proof and interference-voltage-proof up to 35 Vagainst GND. Applying a higher external voltage may destroy them!

3.10 PI-controller

The implemented PI-controller can be used for temperature control, pressure control orother applications. The PI-controller can be switched on and off.

The actual value from the sensor (temperature, pressure,...) is fed to analog input AI1.The actual value can be scaled and assigned an offset to adapt it to the working rangeof the PI-controller.

The setpoint of the PI-controller can be set either with one of the six programmable fixedsetpoints or using the RS-485 / fieldbus (SBus) interface (P100 = Setpoint source). Furthermore, it is possible to select the setpoint using the local setpoint potentiometer.

The correcting variable of the PI-controller is a speed setpoint which is limited betweena minimum and a maximum speed (P301 = Minimum speed 1 and P302 = Maximumspeed 1); setting speed ramp times does not have any effect when the PI-controller isactive.

Default parameter settings are shown in bold below.

Activating the PI-controller

The PI-controller is switched off and on using parameter P250. The setpoint and actualvalue settings specified in point 1 are active if it is switched on.

The correcting variable is increased if there is a positive control differential in the Normalsetting. It is reduced if there is a negative control differential.

Determining the actual value

Unipolar input AI1 is used as the actual value input.

The actual value can be determined as follows with P253 PI actual value mode:

• 0...10 V: The following applies to operation as a voltage input:

• 0...20 mA: The following applies to operation as a current input:

0...20 mA = 0...100 % PI-controller actual value[5]

The actual value acquired with P253 PI actual value mode can be scaled using

Reference signal Parameter

enables a reference signal to be programmed relating to the actual value of the PI-controller, e.g. in order to monitor the actual value for a limit.

A binary output terminal must be programmed to “PI ACTUAL VALUE REFERENCE” inorder to output the reference signal. The reference signal operates with a hysteresis of5 %. The reference signal does not have any delay time and it signals “1” if thePI-controller actual value [%] > P450 PI actual value threshold.

Inverter control The direction of rotation is always determined using the direction of rotation terminals“CW/stop” and “CCW/stop.”.

The speed ramp (P130) increases the speed up to the minimum speed (P301) when theinverter has been enabled. The PI control is activated once the minimum speed hasbeen reached and the speed setpoint is directly determined by the PI controllercorrecting variable.

If the CW / CCW terminal is removed, the PI control is deactivated and the I componentof the PI controller saved. The speed will be reduced at the speed ramp (P131). If theinverter is enabled again before the drive has reached its stop speed, the PI controlleris reactivated with the current setpoint.

If the inverter is stopped with the "Enable/Stop" terminal, it causes a downwardintegration along the rapid stop ramp. The I-component of the controller is saved.

The direction of rotation with the RS485 or SBUS setpoint source is selected as follows:if one of the two CW or CCW terminals is active, the active terminal determines the setdirection of rotation and the amount of the PO datum PI CONTROLLER % is the setpointfor the PI controller. If both terminals are active, the sign of the PO datum PICONTROLLER % determines the set direction of rotation and the amount of the POdatum PI CONTROLLER % becomes the setpoint for the PI controller.
