    Ytremism, terrorism and 3aeshism 'the

recent phenomenon associated :ith 3aesh(, and thereby disgrace his o:n religion# Therefore,

:e no: live in such a time :here every +uslim, :hether he is a doctor or a la:yer, a politician

or a ta>i driver, or of any other profession, he must possess certain 8no:ledge of his o:n

religion, in particular the contentious issues# &n my opinion, in tremist :ill be able to misguide him or her#

    The Arabic language

Arabic is the language of the ?ur@an and Hadith as :ell as of the grave, the 3ay of

;udgement and 4aradise# Every +uslim spends a lifetime offering prayers and reciting the

?ur@an, subsequently, the greater the understanding of the Arabic language the greater the

contentment in performing the prayers and reciting the ?ur@an# ample, any +uslim

:ho is a:are of only the basics of Arabic grammar i#e# arf 'Etymology( and 2ah: 'ynta>(, anddid not continue :ith further studies in Arabic, :hen he recites urat al!atihah 'Chapter The

This certainly does not mean that :hoever does not 8no: the Arabic language cannot

achieve satisfaction and re:ard from reciting the ?ur@an# Bn the contrary, a person attains -

    the 4rophet +uhammad 8no: the meanings of these letters# Ho:ever, reciting :ith

understanding is more re:arding# &n relation to this, consider the follo:ing t:o narrations

o DAbdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal mentions that he once heard his father, &mam Ahmad

    Tacling e!tremism

An individual :ho achieves a degree of his choice, a ob, a car, a home of his choice, and

lives a happy family life, then he :ill be satisfied and :ould not be inclined to:ards brea8ing

the la:# As opposed to this, a person :ho does not possess a good education and therefore a

good ob, he becomes inclined to:ards theft, drugs and illegal acts, in order to achieve :ealth,

eventually ending up in prison# imilarly, a person :ho is satisfied :ith his faith and creed, he

:ill not be inclined to:ards e>tremism, terrorism and 3aeshism, because no religion teaches

terrorism# &t is clear that :hoever is inclined to:ards terrorism, does not have sufficient religious

8no:ledge# Therefore, it is imperative that on a large scale the mosques teach creed and

religion to the youth, in such a firm manner that leads them to become un:illing even to hearthe name of e>tremism and terrorism#

    Mosques and the "uture generation

Bur praise:orthy elders through their tireless efforts under the guidance of noble

scholars and spiritual leaders have established a net:or8 of mosques throughout the UK, and

many ne: purpose built mosques have been completed# Children attend the mosque for one

and a half hours daily, :hich amounts to seven and a half hours in a :ee8 and )0- hours in a

year# This is not merely for one year, but e>tends from the age of 5 up to the age of ", so they

end up studying for /%0- hours in the mosque# imately )0- hours a year

and 05- hours over five years, studying only one subect &slam#

& have formulated a curriculum for mosques in order to ma8e effective use of these 05-

hours of study# The programme is designed to be taught in English and an overvie: of it is as
