It all started with a mess!

And it was beautiful. Living in Rio, a citysurrounded by a bit of chaos here andthere, favelas, and thinking that besides allthat it works, we figured out that this messwas also functional. And how to incorporateit into a project, how to build upon it?Perhaps even more important, how to makeit socially and ecologically relevant and alsoinspire some criticism? Bring the discussionto your home?

Morro is a slang for favela in rio, somethinglike a hill covered with houses built with

whatever means they have. And this had tobe translated to the project. Built out offoam waste from other traditional sofas, using cloth shreds as lining (with the helpof a favela seamstress and craftworkco-operative) different colored and sizedcubes are attached to a very simple recycledwood structure with the use of velcro.

    The cubes

Both Morro and Morrinho share thesame cubes. They are covered with

cloth shreds with different textures andcolors. You can even specify wich kind

of fabric and color you want yourmorro to use, according to your taste.

In its lower face there are two stripesof velcro, that attach the cubes to the

morros. It allows them to berearranged according to your taste.

Today you want it blue on the top andgreen in the bottom. Alright, just move

    the cubes at will.

The selected velcro has just the correctpressure so you can remove the cubes, yet they wont fall unless you really

    pull them.

Aside from the beauty, the removablecubes allow them to be washed

separately. An opening between thevelcro strips make this an easy task, as

you can remove the foam and washjust the fabric cover..

    The Secret

Unlike Morro, that mostly due to

its size is made of a more conven-tional structure and recycledwood, Morrinho takes thestructure simplification andecologic thinkning to extremes.

The body is composed of twostacked discarded tires. As simpleas it gets. A cover made of aspecial fabric (where the cubesare attached to) envelopes the

tires, allowing it to be removedand washed normally, if needed.

Morrinho is sold with properlysanitized tyres.
