Commerce is becoming all-digital –Technology is more external-facing, and so must be the CIO IT is democratized and commoditized –Technology selection and implementation are less and less primary tasks for CIOsGlobal integration – Processes and systems are globally interconnected and dependent; requires enterprise perspectiveStronger competition – More challenging to differentiate, so need to explore and exploit IT’sstrategic edge Change & disruption are the norm – The CIO is a change agent, but must also be able to change emphasis and IT’s value proposition
