Several messages this week – Firstly congratulations to every child who ran the cross country course on Friday, we are proud of every one of you for the big effort you put in. Coming first can only happen for one person, being a winner by participating is what all runners achieved. Well done.
ANAPHYLAXIS – all staff have completed the required training to manage this life threatening situation should it arise. We ask families to take into account what goes into lunchboxes and comes to school for lunch and morning tea and assist by not including peanut and tree nut products at morning tea and lunch and encouraging children to not share food and to wash their hands after eating and to report to a teacher if another student looks to be unwell after eating.
Circus ticket — Mr Bloch has been given a family pass to the circus which he is willing to give away to the best entry in a little competition. The answer to this question What makes Morgan Street Public School the fantastic place it is? (25 words), delivered by Thursday afternoon to Mr Bloch – presentation at Assembly Friday. Good Luck.
Two new programs began last week in the school , both receiving thumbs up from students and staff. I was able to visit the high energy of Born to Run being delivered as PDHPE this term across grades 2 to 6. Friends for Life began in grades 3 and grades 6 with positive feedback so well done to our program deliverers as they are well organised and the students are enjoying the fresh input. Parents are requested to check if they have paid the $5 for the Friends workbook and do so ASAP.
CANTEEN — the great news is the announcement of a refurbishment of our canteen and the Air conditioners in our school with a dollar figure of $180,000 being recently revealed for the whole project. Sadly though, if we cannot get the numbers of helpers to improve it may lead to a review of how many days we can actually have the canteen open. This would be sad as we have such a healthy vibrant canteen where it is always a pleasure to buy your lunch. Maybe you also saw the weekend media reports of how “Healthy Canteens” are in trouble in many schools. If you can offer up even just a couple of hours especially towards the end of the week Marni will be delighted.

We had a fantastic carnival at
school on Friday morning. So
many keen, energetic Morgies
running their hearts out for their
teams. So good to see such
enthusiasm and involvement.
Our Champions
It was a very close carnival with only a few points between each house, but HARDING was the winner on
324 points. Flynn came second, followed closely by RASP. Congratulations to all runners and a big pat on
the back to the Champions and runner-ups for each age division. The first six runners in each division will be invited to participate in the Broken Hill Cross Country Carnival at
the Memorial Oval on Friday 15th May, 2015. They will receive a note later in the week.
CLASS NEWS
Fire Safety
Talk!
Friday Week 2
During Week 1 KM had a discussion about fire safety and what we are required to do if there is a
fire. After the conversation Ethan put his hand up and said “My Dad is a fireman, maybe he
could come and talk to us”. After this discussion we organised for the local firemen to come and
visit our class.
During our visit from the firemen we learnt to:
Use the hose to
put
out fires
GET DOWN LOW
AND
GO GO GO!
STOP, DROP
AND ROLL
If our clothes
are on fire
Call 000
if there is a
fire

“Proud Morgies learning together”
Next week there will be a small change to the PBL
News section of our newsletter. It will change to the
title of PROUD NEWS.
PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) is the framework
we use to implement new programs, monitor them
and make changes into how our school runs. PBL is
designed to promote student wellbeing and the best
learning environment we can provide our students.
However, PROUD is both our motto and our rules at
MSPS, and this is what drives the initiatives we use in
our school. PROUD is a daily part of what we do, how
we do things and why we do things at MSPS. Our
reward systems are based on PROUD and so are the
lessons we learn in every classroom about what it is to
be PROUD and how we show it. This small change will
keep the focus on why we use the PBL framework in
our school, but at the same time put the spotlight on
what MSPS is all about - being PROUD every day!
Keep up the great work Morgies!
COMMUNITY NEWS
Mother’s Day Update.
Thank you to everyone who has returned the helper notes. If you haven’t had a chance to put
one in yet it would be great to get it in by tomorrow, so we can finalise all the details for the
day. As I mentioned last week, we are worried about running out of cakes and some mums
missing out on morning tea with their little ones, so on the day each adult can buy 2 plates of
cakes at a time. We have also bought some new chairs to improve the availability of seats. Hopefully you
have all been busy getting your baking organised so the day can be the best it can be!
Happy baking and we look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 7th
May at 10.45am
