A season of gigs, events and workshops
Apr – Jul 2015
Kate In The Kettle“One of the most inventive performers on the British acoustic folk scene” The Guardian
HelloThe great shows upstairs at The Hothouse will feature one of my favourite bands this summer, Orkestra Del Sol. They mix a street style fun engagement with dancing rhythms and explosive beats. See them out in the streets of the West End, then for an early evening show at The Hothouse on 24 May.
I am also very pleased that we are featuring many local rock, pop, folk and indie bands and artists with our new Friday nights LIVE at The Hothouse. Only £2 to get in – try it out and hear the best of local music.
The Morecambe festival season is building momentum and we are excitedto be supporting the Morecambe Carnival weekend in May, before we gear up to another great seaside weekend for Catch the Wind 2015 in June.
More Music is flourishing and, as ever, working with all our local arts partners to put the district on the map as a great place to live.
I hope to see you somewhere over the summer.
Artistic Director, More Music

Orkestra Del SolFeaturing Baybeat StreetbandSunday 24 May 7pmMeet the performers on an afternoon parade on the prom and on the streets of the
West End between 2pm and 4pm. Look out for them busking and running workshops
outside The Hothouse.
Orkestra del Sol create a living, breathing polka-ing, pogo-ing honk-step for the 21st
century. Trumpet, trombone, saxes, accordion, fiddle, two drummers and the epic bass
of the sousaphone conspire perfectly to create soaring horn lines and beautifully layered
harmonies. All driven by an uncompromising rhythm section who deliver the meanest
grooves with a twinkle in their eye!

Nigel Parrington is a Lancaster based
musician/songwriter and part-time postman
who likes to capture the human moments,
as well as everyday ‘unseen’ places, with
his photographs. Trying to avoid cliche he
prefers to go for the unaware, unplanned and
unusual. Often all three.
A display of photographs of musicians who
have at one time or another been involved
in music at The Hothouse. Valentine enjoys
taking many different kinds of photographs
but people, musicians especially are a
particular interest. The photographer
Valentine Archer (Pete Hyde) is involved in
a number of More Music projects and plays
saxophone in Baybeat and Orbit. He is also
chair of Lancaster Jazz Festival.
