If not, Moodle email is probably not abiding by SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
Probably having problems
● Review your senders○ No-reply address○ Main site administrator - email address○ Support contact - email address○ These email addresses are used to send email
FROM your Moodle■ Do they follow the DMARC rules?■ How do you know?
● Try the email test plugin● Send an email to a gmail account, for instance● Review headers to check DMARC pass/fail
Troubleshooting● Ask your Moodle partner or hosting provider to review and
provide email server logs○ Only when using their email services
■ When no smtp host is set■ When smtp host is the hosting providers' server
○ Logs tell all● Using authenticated SMTP for some other service?
○ Good luck getting logs from Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc!
● Have a company/school/organization Email Server/○ Ask them for an authenticated SMTP account dedicated for
your Moodle○ Allows you to maintain branding in your Moodle email
address○ Check with them to determine if SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
policies are in use. If so that is a great option! If not, why not! Use another option until they do?
