We can always do with an extra pair of hands so if you are available to help out on the day (checking helmets, helping students balance etc) that would be great. Welcome back to another fortnight at Montville State School. We continue to focus on

our 2 priorities of Community Engagement and Developing Our Students Literacy. A

couple of weeks ago I sent home a survey asking for feedback and I really appreciate everyone

taking the time to let us know what we and areas in which we can improve.

The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA) is an important day to mark

Australian school communities standing together against bullying and violence. It is celebrated across

Australia on Friday 19 March. We will be on school camp at this time so we will be recognising this

important day on Monday 15 March. The students will be doing activities in class and we ask that the students wear

orange on this day.

Bike Club This Wednesday Mr Frampton and Pete Baguley will be running their bike club at first break from 11:00-

11:45. Students are welcome to bring their bikes and a safety approved helmet on the day and leave at the bike

racks down on the oval. We will have a section for balance bikes and training wheels in the hall. We can always do

with an extra pair of hands so if you are available to help out on the day (checking helmets, helping students balance

etc) that would be great.

P&C AGM This will be held at 3:00pm on Monday 29 March in the computer lab. All adult members of the school

community are invited to attend and elect our office bearers for 2021. At the AGM we will acknowledge the incredible

work of the volunteers on all our P&C committees, give some thought to what we can improve on next year and elect

our P&C office bearer positions. We will have staff looking after students to allow as many people to attend as

possible.

In 2019 our Community Engagement Committee developed the Montville Parent and Community Engagement

Framework. This framework has 5 sections –Communication, School Culture, Partnerships with Parents, Decision

Making and Community Collaboration.

I wanted to focus on an area each fortnight looking at our beliefs and what you will see at Montville State School

regarding how we engage with the community. Last issue we looked at Communication, this week I would like to

focus on School Culture.

At Montville State School respectful relationships between students, parents and the school community are valued and enhance the promotion of student learning and wellbeing. We believe that respectful relationships between the school, students, parents and the school community need to be actively cultivated and valued and nurturing a culture that respects and values difference amongst the whole school community is vital in supporting the inclusive engagement of all families. Parent and community participation in student learning and the school community should be acknowledged and recognised. This involvement sends a clear signal to students about the value of education. At Montville State School- •every parent feels welcomed and valued as part of the school community, is comfortable expressing their views, and has means to contribute their views •every interaction occurring on the school grounds is calm and respectful. •respectful and caring relationships are reflected in the ways in which staff, students and parents interact and

through the language they use in both formal and informal settings.

Partnerships With Parents

At Montville State School:

parents are encouraged to take a genuine and close interest in the work of the school, are acknowledged as the

first teachers of their children, and engage as partners in their children’s learning and wellbeing.

communication with parents provides information about where students are up to in their learning, what progress

they have made over time and what they might do to support their children’s further learning.

the principal and teachers regularly connect with the parent/s of every child in the school.

parents have access to resources to assist their child with their learning.

opportunities are provided for parents to enhance their knowledge of how to assist their child’s learning.
