IT’S WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE!

Before a balloon is filled with helium, it has no life. But once

helium fills a balloon it has the potential to fly high. In fact, you

have to anchor a helium-filled balloon to keep it from flying

away! Sometimes I’ve seen people who don’t make it from the

store to their car before losing a balloon to the wind.

When you see balloons in bunches at a party or at the

carnival they’re not flying around because the vendor ties them

down. They have to be tied to something to keep them on the

ground.

That’s the way it can be with the Christian life too. We have

God’s Spirit dwelling in us but we’re still tied down. Paul said that

as long as we continue to walk after the flesh and not after the

Spirit we will never reach the spiritual heights that God has in

mind for us (Romans 8:1, 4).
