The tour comprised of ten local youth belonging to remote areas of Rajouri District who returned after successfully completing a 26 days basic mountaineer- ing course at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali. The course commenced from October 1, 2017 and culminated on Oct 26, 2017. All the participants received a certificate on suc- cessful completion of the course. The tour was flagged in at Keri where the participants interacted with the Army personnel and shared their experiences. STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: The Environmental Clearance Committee(ECC) for Karthai-I Project led by District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana on Sunday visited the project site here in Gulabgarh Paddar area and listened to the issues of local people. The committee members including Chief Engineer JKPDC, SDM Padder Sanjeev Rana, representa- tives of Pollution Control Board, Tehsildar Atholi, BDO Atholi and sectoral offi- cers interacted with a large number of public from Atholi, Karthai and Sohal the vil- lages likely to be affected by the project. The public was informed about the importance of the project and its various key components were read out to them. It was informed that 165 meter high concrete gravity dam will be construct- ed and for which around 32 hectare land is required which would include State, private and forest land. The Chief Engineer JKPDC assured that during the execution of the project the impact on the air, noise and water pollution will be taken care of. Consultants of the project gave a detailed resume of var- ious components of the pro- jected environment manage- ment plans. The locals demanded rea- sonable compensation for the private land to be acquired for the project, pref- erence to local youth in employment and early start of execution of the project. They also demanded that the area be provided free elec- tricity after completion of the project. District Development Commissioner, while replying to the queries of the public assured that the area development plan would exclusively be used for the development of the Padder. He also said that JKPDC shall impart training to the youth of Padder so that at the time of the execution the local youth may get jobs. Capacity building tour by army flagged-in Voter awareness held STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: As a part of ongo- ing Special Summary Revision District Administration, Rajouri on Sunday organised additional special camp for enrollment, addition, deletion and transposi- tion of voters in electoral rolls with January 1, 2018 as qualify- ing date. A record number of 629 appli- cations received for addition with total 1,335 forms received under addition, deletion, correc- tion and transposition. Like two special camps held earlier this month, today's camp also received great response from people as result of various awareness initiatives taken by district administration under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme under guidance and overall supervision of District Election Officer Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary. Deputy District Election Officer Shrikant Suse, Election Registration Officers, Assistant Election Registration Officers, Election Naib Tehsildar inspect- ed various polling stations across district for performance review of BLOs and issued necessary corrective directions to BLOs to maximize registration. Shrikant Suse also informed that special drive of house to house visit by Booth Level Officers will be car- ried out from November 15 to 30, to maximise registration of eligible voters and improvement of fidelity of electoral rolls. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) came heavily on the traffic rule violators in which five tractors and five motorcycles were seized and a fine of Rs 10,000 was recovered from other vehicles on Sunday. The ARTO Poonch Abdul Rahim alongwith his team laid Nakas at Kanuiyan and Deghwar and checked all the vehicles to ensure strict com- pliance of the traffic rules. The ARTO seized five trac- tors and five motorcycles which were plying without documents. The ARTO also Challaned number of other vehicles including two wheelers, three wheelers, buses, matadors, load carriers and private vehicles and recovered a fine of Rs 10,000 for using pres- sure horns, driving without helmets, overloading and not possessing complete docu- ments. RTO advised the vehicle operators to strictly follow the traffic rules to ensure their own safety and that of others. Additional special camp under SSR held STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Under the directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, the various revenue documents and cer- tificates were delivered by Tehsildar Haveli Jahangir Khan by holding a village Darbar at Hurmi Dhakki Madana on Sunday. The residents of village Hurmi Dhakki, Seri Chowana, Seri Khawaja, Hari Budha, Naryaian, Bacha Wale Naban attend- ed the Darbar and explained their problems with regard to the revenue matters which were solved on the spot. On this occa- sion the concerned villagers were also issued the certifi- cates of income, caste, Intqal and State Subjects etc. The people of this area hailed the directions of DDC and thanked the Tehsildar Haveli. STATE TIMES NEWS KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir on Sunday convened a meet- ing of officers of education, Revenue, police depart- ments to review the overall arrangements made for smooth and fair conduct of BOSE examination in the district Kupwara, commenc- ing from November first. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, District Education Planning Officer Kupwara, Tehsildars, ACR and Superintendents of exami- nations were present in the meeting. It was given out that for over 10,000 students 101 examination centres have been established for 10th class, while 6,000 students will appear in 58 examina- tion centre for 12th. The DDC Kupwara stressed upon all stake hold- ers to ensure smooth and fair examinations are con- ducted. The superintend- ents were directed to visit the centres earlier to inquire about the facilities provided to the students in these examination centres. The officials assured the chair for better performance dur- ing the BOSE examina- tions. STATE TIMES NEWS PULWAMA: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) conver- gence meet was held here at Pulwama, under the chairman- ship of DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar. District Programme Officer ICDS Pulwama, ADC Awantipora, CMO Pulwama, CDPOs and other officers of the district were present in the meet- ing. The meeting was informed that under BBBP district action plan keen interest has been taken to reverse the declining child sex ratio in the district. On the occasion DPO ICDS Pulwama said that coordinated and convergent efforts are need- ed to ensure survival, protection and education of the girl child to make them realize their full potential. He emphasized upon officers and concerned staff to make this initiative successful, adding everyone should to work in coordination with other departments, so that sex deter- mination of the fetus will be con- trolled and all those inv(loved in such activities will be punished. The health officials were direct- ed to strictly implement PC&PNDT Act in the district. He urged upon concerned offi- cials to ensure the improvement in sex ratio at 10 percent per year, reduce mortality rate and increase girl enrollment in high- er education It was given out that various key stakeholders of the pro- gramme will be imparted train- ing under Training and Capacity building. In this regard a detailed training calendar was issued. Principal DIET has been entrusted with the respon- sibility of identifying the Master Trainers who will impart train- ing to the concerned so as to enable the department to achieve its objectives. Speaking on the occasion DDC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar said that BBBP Scheme was launched as a comprehensive programme to address the declining CSR and related issues of disem- powerment. DDC said that the main objective of the BBBP Programme is to generate awareness among common masses regarding the impor- tance of a girl child in the soci- ety. He said encouraging and edu- cating the common people about the importance of 'Beti' in the society is must in order to cor- rect the dismal low child sex ratio in the district. DC reviews BOSE exam arrangements BBBP convergence meet held Ayoudhya elected as J&K Prajapati Sabha President STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: J&K Prajapati Sabha Jammu elected Ayoudhya Kumar Manawa and F.C Satia as President and General Secretary of the Sabha respectively unopposed here on Sunday. STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH: The MotorVehicle Department (MVD)came heavily on the trafficrule violators in which fivetractors and five motorcycleswere seized and a fine of Rs10,000 was recovered fromother vehicles on Sunday.

The ARTO Poonch AbdulRahim alongwith his teamlaid Nakas at Kanuiyan andDeghwar and checked all thevehicles to ensure strict com-pliance of the traffic rules.The ARTO seized five trac-tors and five motorcycleswhich were plying withoutdocuments.

including two wheelers, threewheelers, buses, matadors,load carriers and privatevehicles and recovered a fineof Rs 10,000 for using pres-sure horns, driving withouthelmets, overloading and not

The Chief EducationOfficer (CEO) Kupwara,District EducationPlanning Officer Kupwara,Tehsildars, ACR andSuperintendents of exami-nations were present in themeeting.

It was given out that forover 10,000 students 101examination centres havebeen established for 10thclass, while 6,000 studentswill appear in 58 examina-tion centre for 12th.
