Oscar thoroughly enjoys working outside with tools when we do gardening for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program and he often tries hard to solve problems. He is friendly, kind and is fair when playing games. Oscar has been a great mate to some of his peers since pre-school and they enjoy his funny jokes. Well done Oscar! 5 / 6 – Sonny Burgess Our Star of the Week is an excellent student and team player. He takes pride in his interests and is a dedicated and loyal fan of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. On Thursday we had a visit from Senior Constable Clarke,

who is the local Police Youth Liaison Officer in our region.

She presented students in Years 3 - 6 information and

advice about cyber safety when using technology, games

and apps that are connected to the Internet. Some

important tips that the students learnt from this session

was to always have their social media profiles on private,

turn off their location settings and to block anybody who

they do not know from chatting to them online.

Additionally, apps such as Facebook, Snapchat and

Instagram are for people over the age of 13, and

Senior Constable Clarke advised any child who may

have the Kik app installed on their device to delete it

straight away, as Kik is a public online chatroom that the

NSW Police classify as high risk for online predators.

All students received a Bullying No Way! Wristband, an

information card and participated in anti-bullying lessons

in their classes.

CLASS NEWS

K / 1 / 2 – Miss Burgess

K/1/2 have been learning all about addition in maths this

week. We have been playing lots of maths games and

solving some tricky addition problems. K/1/2 have also

been using Mathletics to practice numeracy skills.

Thanks to all the parents who came along on Monday to

‘Meet the Teacher’. It was lovely to meet you all! Don’t

forget to sign in to the Class Dojo so you can see what

your children are getting up to in class each day.

3 / 4 – Miss Harding

There was plenty of learning happening in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program this week. Group 1 worked collaboratively in the garden to plan, design and re-establish a new garden at the entrance of our school, which you will find next to the office and library buildings. There was plenty of discussion around the placement of the new plants and how much space they would need to grow over their lifetime. Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers who always provide the children with so many interesting facts about gardening. Below: Alexis, Lucinda and Connie planning where the plants should go in our new garden bed. Below: Robyn and Marley discussing the planting process while digging a hole for the new plant to go in.

5 / 6 Class News – Mr Kerr This week in 5/6 we’ve been experimenting with some

different 3D rendering software. We started by planning

our own bedrooms and their features and then moved

onto designing our own dream home. The software is a

free program called 5D Planner and it can be accessed

from home. Well done to all my budding architects!
