PRESIDENT’S NEWS MARCH 2012 Hi to all our members and families... welcome to our March rally.....we have two specialist instructors this rally and you can read all about this in the DC report so hoping everyone can attend and not miss out! Congratulations to Erica Hosking who rode Grade 1 Dressage at the Horseland PCAV State Dressage and Showjumping Championships at Yarrambat over the previous weekend. I heard that Erica’s mum – Loreto was extremely happy with her riding and she was placed 3rd in one test and 19th in the other. We have a feeling Erica will be selected to represent our zone in the Nationals which are being held in Western Australia in September this year. Very exciting!!! Can’t wait to find out and congratulations Erica for all your effort. IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER: SUNDAY 7TH APRIL – MONBULK PONY CLUB – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – ALL MEMBERS WELCOME SUNDAY 7TH APRIL – MEMBERSHIP FEES DUE AND PAYABLE – CHEQUES/CASH ACCEPTED SATURDAY MAY 4TH – WORKING BEE AND SET-UP FOR COMPETITION SUNDAY MAY 5TH – MPC COMPETITION – SHOWJUMPING AND SPECIAL EVENT – SUNDAY MAY 5TH – COMPETITION INSTEAD OF RALLY – IN LIEU OF THE MAY RALLY A SPECIALIST CLINIC WITH A SPECIALIST INSTRUCTOR WILL BE OFFERED TO ALL MEMBERS FREE OF CHARGE – DATE TO BE ADVISED
Very important news – as May was such a busy month with many other competitions on the 3 rd weekend of May (when our competition is usually held) and with Mothers Day on the 2nd weekend – we decided in the best interests of our members and potential entrants for our competition we are having our May comp. on our rally day – What this means is that all our members will be able to help at our working bee/set-up and enter our competiton over the one weekend – have Mothers Day weekend off!!! Maybe breakfast in bed!! and in replacement of missing that rally we will be offering a specialist clinic for all our members at no extra cost to them on another weekend – soon to be advised. It also means that the majority of other local clubs can enter our competition with this change of date. So please put these dates in you diary!!! Membership fees are due and payable on our April rally as our competition will be on our May rally – so you can pay your membership at March rally or at April rally –however we will be too busy with the competition to be processing membership payments in May – please see our secretary Naomi or myself if you have any queries or need to talk about your membership. Camp details will be released soon – we welcome Anne Fenby who is our new camp co-ordinator and looking forward to seeing where our next adventure is! Happy and safe riding Michelle - President DC Report March… Hello everyone and welcome to the month March. I would like to welcome all our instructors this rally, including Emma Firth with Musical ride sessions, Jaqui Boyle in the SJ arena, Jenny Dexter who is running Handy mount sessions and our guest Pat Dyson who is a Games enthusiast! Gunsynd and Archer will join together for this rally as there are quite a few non riding members for this month. If the members doing their D and D* certificates could bring their work books (named) to me when they sign in I can have check them off before the theory session. I am looking forward to seeing what you have written in your work books… and any photos. Congratulations to Red House for winning the Monbulk House Cup last rally. What an amazing sight to see, all our riders mixed in on the main arena competing against each other in a fun atmosphere. I think Purple House may have been short changed with their cup in the water game, it was a little bit smaller! I want to congratulate all riders for bringing such a positive attitude and proving once again that Monbulk riders know how to look out for one another and have fun! And well done to the horses and ponies for letting us bunch them together like we did. Just a note, if you do have a pony/horse who likes their space and usually kicks out at someone else sniffing their back side, then just put a red ribbon on their tail so everyone knows to give you the space you need. Here are a few dates to assist with planning over the next few months and thank you to the people that let me know in advance they won’t be riding at rally. We have Games, Flat and Musical practices to slot in also. It is nearly fees time of year again, when we all have to renew our memberships which run from July 1st to June 30th each year. Naomi, our secretary, will be accepting fees at the April rally and the last day to pay will be May 5th which is our competition day.
28 April Games, Flat & Musical Ride at Dingley.
4 May Working Bee 10am-2pm and Set Up 2-6pm
5 May SJ Comp and Special Event
5 May Membership fees due
Out n About – I am looking forward to hearing how Erica went with her dressage tests at the State qualifiers at Yarrambat. Anyone else with stories about their comps is most welcome to share with us at the lunch time meeting, just see Michelle or myself before the meeting. I have a question for our members…Can you feed grass clippings to a horse? Why or why not?
Happy riding Amie

Renewal of Fees – July 2013 to June 2014
JUST A REMINDER, AS THE SAME AS PREVIOUS YEARS THE ANNUAL FEES ARE NEARLY DUE
AGAIN!!!
******Due and Payable at April Rally********
Annual Fees – (Junior): 1st Child $350; 2nd Child: $330; 3rd Child: $310 (Associate 18yr & over) $370 (new member $430 :July-June) Fees comprise a $115 (Junior) and $135 (Associate 18 yrs and over) fee payable to the Pony Club
Association of Victoria to cover administration and 24/7 personal accident/riding insurance. (Please
see attached PCAV outline of fee structures)
The remainder goes to paying instructors, buying and maintaining equipment etc. & rallies. On
average, over 11 rallies per year, you receive four hours of group instruction at each rally for a cost
of approx. $20. To maintain this service requires all member families to volunteer time and
resources to keep the club running, and to fulfil our obligations to the Pony Club Association of
Victoria.
I will have the updated Membership Renewal/Agreement forms for the 2013/2014 year available at
the March Rally, and will also email these out to members in order for families to have filled out
and return with fees at the April rally.
Please note it is very important that the form and fees are returned to me by this time, as the
Membership Returns with payment has to be submitted to the PCAV in May. It also means that you
are fully insured then to begin riding from the July Rally. If your fees aren’t paid by this time, you
won’t be able to ride at the July Rally.

Out and About Results Welcome – if you are out there competing in PCAV, EFA, Inter-School or Open comps we would love to hear about how you are doing! These results encourage our clubs younger riders to
get out there and give it a go! AND you deserve the credit for your efforts!
Erica Hosking and Avoca Flowergirl placed 3rd out of 29 in their 1F test at the State Qualifiers on February 23rd, and are now waiting to hear whether they have been selected in the Victorian team for the PCAV
National Championships, to be held in Perth in late September.
Erica and Daisy followed up on February 24th at the Clydesdale Cross Sporthorse Association's gymkhana at Werribee, winning Champion Ridden Horse and Champion Working Hunter. Janis and Merlin also picked up lots of ribbons, and even Mum managed to stay on Stella long enough to finish 2nd to Daisy and Erica in
the Ridden mare class!
