2014-15 U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Advocate Lutheran General
Hospital is among the finest
hospitals in Chicago and
Illinois, according to U.S. News
and World Report’s 2014-2015
Best Hospitals list. In the
rankings announced today,
Lutheran General Hospital appears on the list of best
hospitals in the state of Illinois.
U.S. News & World Report also ranked Advocate
Lutheran General Hospital’s orthopedic program
among “best” in the country. Lutheran General also
achieved “high performing” ratings in 11 medical
specialties including cancer; cardiology & heart
surgery; diabetes & endocrinology; ear, nose &
throat; gastroenterology; geriatrics; gynecology;
nephrology; neurology & neurosurgery; pulmonology;
and urology.
Lutheran General Hospital is one of four Advocate
hospitals to make the best hospitals list. Others
include Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate
Good Samaritan Hospital and Advocate Illinois
Masonic Medical Center.
U.S. News uses key outcome measures to analyze
and then rank the hospitals. Those measures
include, among others, patient survival and safety
data, as well as the adequacy of nurse staffing levels.
Advocate Children’s Hospital Physician
featured on The Ñ Beat
Neonatologist, Jeffrey George, DO and Lucia
Arenas, a lactation educator, in the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit at Advocate Children’s
Hospital were featured on The Ñ Beat: Cultural
Connections (ABC - Channel 7). The show
highlights the contributions of Chicago’s Latino
community.
Hispanics are now the fastest growing ethnic
group in the country. But a new study just
released by the March of Dimes reveals that
Hispanic mothers are much more likely to be
confronting pre-term births and babies born with
devastating birth defects. The Ñ Beat tells the
emotional story of a Latino mother who lost her
baby girl just hours after she was born. She is
now working with the March of Dimes to try to
reverse this tragic trend. Dr. George and Lucia
offer their expertise to the story.
The show will air again on Sunday July 27 at
2:30 pm on ABC 7. You can also view on
demand, by clicking here.

Maternity Campaign
We are your “Advocate for Motherhood”. That is
one of the messages of the newly launched
marketing campaign for maternity services at
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Beginning this week and through August 11th,
you will see the advertising, both in newspapers
and online, as well as on billboards and bus
shelters. As the second largest obstetrics
program in Illinois, we offer this region’s highest
level of care and expertise for both mothers and
babies. The goal of the campaign is to raise that
awareness and encourage women to find out
why so many moms are choosing us for their
care.
As part of the campaign, we are also refreshing
the website in order to more effectively carry our
message to the community. The new content will
launch in September.
Here is a look at the creative materials.

#HealthiestLife Expo
Thanks to the almost 250 people that stopped by
the #HealthiestLife Associate Expo. It was a
great event where Advocate Associates had the
opportunity to ask questions to primary care
physicians, sports medicine physicians,
dietitians, learn about our Fitness Center and
Weight Management Program, and even sample
some healthy snack alternatives.
Please continue to share how you are living your
#HealthiestLife all summer long!
Taste of Park Ridge
An early morning downpour did not damper the
spirits of the teams from Advocate Lutheran
General Hospital and Advocate Children’s
Hospital-Park Ridge at Taste of Park Ridge.
Despite the dreary weather for the annual food
festival, there were plenty of people and activity
at the event. Volunteers from LGH interacted
with the crowd and shared information on our
services. Those from ACH-PR spun a safety
wheel and handed out prizes to the delight of the
children attending. Thanks to all of those who
gave of their time to represent our organization.
