POTE’S NOTES Nobles and Ladies, Hoping this finds everyone healthy and loving the nice weather we are enjoying right now. Moila has lost some Great Nobles this last month and they will be sorely missed, one in particular is Ill. Sir Bill Bowser. Bill was an Awesome Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, York Rite and Shriner, I will miss his humor and his love for the organi-zations. July sent us to the International Shrine Conven-tion in Nashville TN. What a great meeting it was, and Your Divan was 100% represented and engaged in all proceedings. It’s always an awesome sight to see the Parade but this year’s Grand Marshal was Ray Stevens, as it should be. He is a wonderful ambassador to Shriners
International and Shriners Hospitals. He ALWAYS lets his audience know what we do, and that advertising is FREE!! Thank You goes to OG Doug Plowman and his Lady Heather for all they did in Nashville for the Divan, it was greatly appreciated. Also to HPP Bill Couldry and his Lady Karen for assisting. Doug and Bill worked hard to make sure the Moila representatives were able to do what they needed to do and had our lunch ready so we could eat and get back to the meeting on time. We have been participating in several Parades so far, thanks to Parade Director Jay Flinn.
While we were in Nashville they were in Mound City for their 4th of July festivities and Troy
Kansas. Then on Saturday July 6th it was off to Chillicothe to the Sliced Bread Parade. We
have been seeing several of our new nobles from the Spring Class out and attending
Lodge meetings and Temple Meetings. Thank you to all of them for getting out and sup-
porting our Temple.
July 13th was the Potentate’s Patio Party and I want to thank everyone for attending. Im-
perial Sir Brad Koehn (Imperial Treasurer) and his Lady Cheryl were in attendance and it
was great to see them and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with
us.
Family Fun Day is July 27th and we are incorporating Fireworks with this to let St Joseph
know we are still here and going strong. Lots of food options will be available so come out
and enjoy the afternoon and evening with us.
August 17th at 10:00 a.m. will be the Walk for Love at East Hills Shopping Center. Signup
will begin at 9:00 a.m. and we would Love to see a great crowd so we can show everyone
what we do and how we can help. Thank you to Noble Kim Evans for chairing this again
this year--he does a great job. Our Temple is dark for the months of July and August so
watch the texts, Facebook posts and emails from Brenda and Shari in the office and come
and enjoy a Friday evening, (or any other evening) with us on the Patio or in Club Moila.
Lady Pam and I would like to thank everyone for all you do for Moila and look forward to a
great summer
Yours in the Faith, Ill. Mark Young

FROM YOUR CHIEF RABBAN Dear Nobles and Ladies: This year is just flying by. It is the middle of July already. We have had a good first six months at Moila and I hope we can keep it going. We have had a couple of parades and fairly good turnout. Please, units and clubs, let’s come together and parade for the good of the Shrine. By us being out in the public it helps us in two ways, membership opportunities and promotion of our Children’s Hospitals. So let’s get together and show what Shriners do. Your Divan went to Imperial Session in Nashville from June 29th thru July 4th. It was a great session and some very important legislation was passed concerning our hospitals, more to come on that. I haven't been to Imperial for three years and I can tell you that the attitude of our voting members has changed for the good. More cooperation and working for the betterment of our fraternity. We have several events left this summer so come out and support your Temple. Please bring a possible new member prospect to these events and let’s get new members in for the Fall Ceremonial. If we each would bring in just one new member we could double our membership. I would like everyone to say Amen for Greg Roades, for his battle with his health issue. I know he had all of us praying for him and it worked. Congratulations Greg, glad you are recovering so well. God Bless. Shrines let’s all come together and make Moila great again. Your Chief Rabban, Ill. Sir Dan Baker
June 2019 Transportation Report: There were no van trips driven this month.
We paid out $1050.00 for patients to drive themselves to St. Louis. 4 patients were flown to Chicago this month using free SW passes.
I patient was flown to Cincinnati costing $1148.00 Hospital expenses for cab fare, meals, and lodging totaled $327.84
Gas and van wash expenses for the van were $90.51
From the Recorder Greetings from the Recorder Your Divan recently returned from the 145th Annual Session of Shriners International in Nashville, Tennessee. Despite the distractions of Country Music and Honky Tonks, the business of the Session was completed. Next year’s session will be in Kansas City and I encourage you to make plans to be part of that event. The most significant legislation passed was with regard to our Hospitals (the Colorado Corporation). The legisla-tion will allow our joint boards, Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children, along with the Board of Governors from each hospital to make decisions affecting the local hospitals in a timely manner rather than hav-ing to wait for the Annual Session. This will significantly reduce the monetary draw from the Hospital Endowment Fund. As of this writing, our total membership stands at 1269. We have 91 Nobles who have not paid their dues for 2019. Your Membership Committee is constantly working to reduce the number of non pays and seeking men who want to be a part of our great fraternity and philanthropy. However we need your help in both areas. It is OUR Temple. Let’s get involved. Yours in the Faith, Ill. Ken Dunlap, Recorder

“Elevated to a higher Dignity or Honor.” Your Moila Divan has just returned from the 145th Annual Imperial Session that was held in Nashville. These are long, full days of meetings with just a little bit of fun worked in to the schedule. There were several Nobles and their Ladies who attended as well. The main point of legislation this year was the approval by the elected delegates to approve the handling of the Hospitals to the Joint Boards and the Hospital Trustees. This was approved overwhelmingly! Please feel free to talk to Shriners Hospital St. Louis Board Member Ill. Dan Baker, or Hospital Board of Governors member Kim Evans. A few notes about Imperial Session that I would like to make: 1) is that the new Imperial Potentate Jeff Sowder is the first Past Grand Master of Masons that is serving as Imperial Potentate. He has several new programs to help hopefully with membership that we can utilize at Moila as well. 2) Your Moila Divan are already having discussions about 2020 and beyond and how we can make the Kansas City Imperial Session a great experience for any Noble and his Lady who would like to attend, more on this later. It is great to see the Divan working together on many projects and having conversations about how to make Moila great again...sorry for the pun! By the time you will have read this message the Potentate’s Patio Party will be history. I hope you are enjoying your Shrine Temple this summer and are staying in shape by swimming, working out or getting a nice round of golf in at our beautiful golf course....the temple is yours to enjoy. I am convinced that we have the best kept secret in St. Joseph, Northwest Missouri and quite possibly the entire Shrine Realm. I can go on and on about how great our Temple is and our membership, but trust me it is not like this anywhere else in Shrinedom. I hope to see you around the temple, on our golf course or in our great Moila restaurant and bar. Yours in the faith,
Dan Smothers Assistant Rabban

2019 PARADE LIST
Greetings from your High Priest and Prophet! MEMBERSHIP SUCCESS
III. Mark Young’s slogan for the years is “MAKING MIRACLES COME TRUE SINCE 1922”.
Membership development isn’t a process – it’s a behavior. While there is indeed a process involved with new member devel-
opment, successful recruitment must start from within YOU. Your understanding that ALL NOBLES are part of the member-
ship team, regardless of whether or not you hold a title or position within Moila. However, you hold the title of Noble.
As discussed in Jonathan Cahn’s The Book of Mysteries, “In the holy language of the Scripture a year is called shannah”.
“The word shannah is linked to the number two”. “Shannah can mean the second, the duplicate, or the repeat. In the course
of nature the year is the repeating of what has already been...the winter, the spring, the summer, and the fall. The rebirth of
nature and its dying the same replaying of what already was. So, a year is a shannah, a repetition. And now we have a new
year before us. And what kind of year will it be? The nature of nature is to repeat. We gravitate toward doing that which
we’ve done before, the same routines and courses, So what will the shannah, this new year be for you” as a SHRINER?
“But you do have a choice”. “You see shannah has a double meaning. It not only means the repeat…it also means the
change. So, let “the shannah ahead, be not a time of repetition but of change, new beginnings, new steps, of braking out of
the old”.
Challenge: Today, tomorrow, and the rest of the year is to step out of your old ways, habits, and thoughts. Walk in the new-
ness of rekindling Moila Shriners.
Be willing to inform about our organization. If you need help read “Proud To Be A Shriner”. in February’s issue of Moila Mes-
senger.
Yours in the Faith, Bill Couldry, High Priest and Prophet

FROM THE ORIENTAL GUIDE
Greetings Nobles,
It's hard to believe that the year is more than half way over. This has been an extremely busy and exciting adventure thus far and there are still plenty of things going on! I just returned from Nashville where the Imperial Session was held this year. It was an amazing experience, getting to meet so many Nobles and to witness our brethren from all over the world come together to discuss all the items on the "Call" (agenda) and debate the items, vote for what they believed to be best for our fraternity and at the end of the day no matter how the vote went walk out still smiling, still friends and still call one another "Brother" and say it with sincerity. It was very helpful and educational to be able to attend. There was some very important and beneficial legislation passed that will have a great and positive impact on our fraterni-ty! Our newly elected Imperial Potentate, Imperial Jeff Sowder’s membership campaign slogan is "Just One" the idea is that each Noble either recruit or restore at least one Noble this Imperial year. Wouldn't it be fantastic to see our fraternity double in size in just one year?!!! Here locally we would restore our membership to what it was 25 years ago if we all bring in "Just One". By the time you read this Illustrious Mark Young will have had his Potentate’s Patio Party, I hope all who attended had a great time! Don't forget to bring your family and friends out to our Family Fun Day on the 27th of July to enjoy some fantastic fellowship and enjoy the Moila Shriners Fireworks Show--our first one in 30 years, come help us revive one of St. Joe's favorite traditions!!! We also have CSSA fast approaching August 21-25th in Sioux City Iowa. Come out and cheer all of our participating units on to victory in their respective competitions! We still have several parades coming up this summer, so come on out and participate or watch and cheer us on! Nobles, there is so much going on at our Temple there is no reason to stay home and wonder what to do, come out and enjoy your Temple and HELP MAKE MOILA GREAT AGAIN!! Until next time Brothers,
Yours in the Faith, Douglas D. Plowman, Oriental Guide Moila Shriners

EL KADIR PRESIDENT’S CORNER
Here it is one day before summer starts and
Mother Nature still thinks it’s spring. We all
need to keep our farmers in our thoughts.
As of this date, we still need a lot of help in
the fireworks stand. Bob & Barb, Al & Marion
all have done a great job, but they can’t do it
all. Please sign up.
The golf outing was a big success with over
56 players. Well done golf committee. Bingo
still is having good numbers with over 50
players for about 7 weeks now. It looks like
maybe, just maybe, the numbers are better in
the number of people we are serving food;
still need more people to come out & eat a
good meal.
Come out & enjoy your Club. It is still the fin-
est Shrine Club in these parts. See you there.
Hope to see you at the Club.
Rob
OLE TYMERS Greetings All,
Well, our Ole Tymers folks are in full swing of the new year, with parades, Temple events, social get-togethers. We did have a few folks go to the Lathrop parade June 1st. Was a little "toasty" with full sun, which we hadn't seen for a while, due to the monsoon sea-son, we went thru. We got a little surprise when we got there, we were informed the our start time was moved up one hour later, how-ever we found some shade & survived the wait. All enjoyed a nice lunch @ Gower on our way home. Our May monthly breakfast @ LePeeps, was one of our best attended to date. We had 15 members & ladies. Wow! We meet for breakfast the last Monday of the month @ 9:00am. My Lady Bev missed out on our annual spring picnic/cook-out, June 22nd due to her three week trip to Canada. Our little Shih-Tzu, Hershey missed his mommy. Hershey thinks daddy missed her a little too!! Our annual picnic/cook-out was well attended. It was hosted by Jerry & Ruth Thornton, @ their lovely home. Their backyard is like a visit to a park. Chef Leland Daise manned the grill & all our ladies brought some delicious home make goodies. A good time was had by all, special Thanks to Jerry & Ruth, for such a Great Time!! July 4th found our group heading to Mound City for one of our bigger parades. Lady Bev & I always enjoy having Lady Joan Smith, ride in the parade. Joan knows everyone in Mound City & everyone one knows her. The weather could not have been better, with cloud cover & no rain, which helped keep the temps & humidity down, for a enjoyable ride up the hill to the city park. We all enjoyed the annual cook-out that was put on by the Kiwanis Club. As always, the Mound City Chamber of Commerce, covered the price of the meal, for all our Shriners & Ladies. Special Thanks, to the Chamber!! We are looking forward to a busy summer, with parades, the Potentate's Patio Party, Family Fun Day, & C.S.S.A. One of our long time members & his lady, Ernie & Dee Frye, will be moving to Country Squire Retirement Community. "NO" they are not leaving the Ole Tymers, but are just moving on to a new chapter in their lives. We all wish them well, in this new chapter! We hope everyone has an enjoyable summer!!! WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS!!! Yours in the Faith, Bob Nichols

IN MEMORIUM
Greetings from the office of the Treasurer
As I write this we have just returned from the 145th Annual session of Shriners International in Nashville Tennessee. We
had a very productive session and progress was made in efforts to streamline our Shriners Hospitals for Children opera-
tions. One thing that stuck out to me at this session was the incredible increase of donations we are receiving from the
public and Shriners around the world. I would encourage you, if are wanting to make a donation or memorial to Moila or
Shriners Hospitals for Children, to please contact the office or myself and we can help you get this done.
Remember that at Moila we have the Permanent Endowment Fund that can always use more donations. We can’t spend
the money in those funds but can use the interest earned each year. Also there is the Transportation Fund--the money in
that fund we just oversee as it is actually property of Shriners Hospitals for Children, and we do spend that money for
transportation of children to our hospitals. The Transportation Fund is a way you can donate that directly affects the care
of our children, and this is a charitable donation and therefore is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Until Next time Ill. H2
