modernizing the mobile field sales - sept. 2014
DESCRIPTION
For years, a team of 550 TUI Hellas mobile sales representatives have sold tour packages using a solution that over time became difficult to maintain. TUI needed a new solution that supported a variety of newer mobile devices while synchronizing with its SAP back-end system. Learn how Globo helped TUI: - Minimize development time for cross platform support - Future-proof the solution for new device types and OS versions - Support their legacy SAP R3 back-end system - Simplify authentication and data synchronizationTRANSCRIPT

MOBILE SALES WAS NOT NEW TO TUIbut the previous solution had reached its limits and was rather “aged”
8
Running on old Windows Mobile PDAs
• Small screen size resulted in poor user experience
• TUI Hellas run out of replacement devices!
Inherent design limitations
• The old mobile sales app worked only in online mode
• Could not support sales in areas with poor connectivity!
Difficulties in maintenance
• Lack of capacity to maintain a legacy mobile app
• Needs for new features couldn’t be satisfied

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE “NEW” APP
9
• Designed for a tablet. The size of a tablet’s screen would help design a more clear, intuitive and user-friendly UI.
• ANY tablet. TUI Hellas wanted to avoid a new lock-in with a specific mobile device platform. A cross-platform solution was the only way forward.
• Integration with their legacy SAP ERP system. The mobile sales solution should leverage Netweaver XI, SAP’s integration platform.
• Support for offline mode. TUI field reps should be able to sell excursions everywhere, irrespective of any connectivity issues.
• Support for a mobile POS. The mobile POS would be used for accepting credit card payments and for printing receipts.
