Comparing photographs of models

Standing up straight
Facing towards to camera
Eye contacts with the camera
Shoulders back stood in a strong stance
Medium long shot to show body stance and clothing
Stood close together or leading on each other
Posture
The strong, shoulders body stance suggest confidence in what they do
Eye contact with the camera suggests arrogance or the attitude they have on stage
Facing towards the camera suggests full self expressions hinting towards the behavior of the music they play
Stood close together or leaning on one another suggests a sense of unity as they have formed as a band and unite when on stage
One person stood in front of the other suggests leadership amongst the band hinting at the position that they play or age.
Gesture
Full coverage but pale foundation/powder to get a natural, simple look
Eyebrows in a natural shape but darkened to add structure to the face and depth
No make-up on lips to get a natural look and give off the impression make-up isn’t needed
Eye make-up is used to make the eyes stand out and be bold so you focus on them as they are looking into the camera to give the feel of direct address
Slight contouring to give depth and no added colour, all neutrals to convince the viewer that they’re looking at confident, natural people.
Make-up
Two different colours in the hair which is on trend at the moment so labels the band stylish
Look like natural waves which works with the slight make-up giving off a natural look
Natural colours to give the impressing of confidence and a feel of not to change but use other features to stand out to people
Roughly tied up or left down to give a relaxed look and suggest that this is their real personalities
Not made to be an attraction in the picture unless people like the simple style
Hair
Eye contact with the camera suggests that the models have a confident attitude and want to portray themselves as confident towards the viewer
Strong body language and stand up in a straight posture shows the models are portraying arrogance
Facing towards the camera working alongside the eye contact again creates a feel of confidence
The straight facial expression portray the raw attitude of the models and the attitude that comes as part of their rock and roll lifestyle
Attitude
The use of make-up to subtly highlight features such as eyebrows, eyes and cheeks makes the face become more of an attraction and will make the viewer look at the face
Facing towards the camera with the emotionless facial expression it creates a feel that an attitude is there
The serious facial expressions are something that are associated with rock and roll music making them seem like they belong in that genre
Facial expressions
A medium long shot has been used to show the models clothing and style
The medium long shot shows the models attitude through their body language and allows the viewer to sense it
The shot was taken from directly in front to emphasis the fact the models are facing directly towards the viewer, along with eye contact and strong body posture.
Angle and frame
The girl band I used one my front cover I wanted to be similar to Haim because they share the same genre. In both of magazine the models are giving of a rebellious attitude by giving the camera direct eye contact and not showing any or much emotion through facial expressions or body language which I believe fits in with the set reputation already given to them by the type of genre that they are in. I noticed that girl band which share the rock genre such as Haim wear neutral coloured clothing which I imitated with my models keeping them in pale colours such as mint, cream, white and grey. Also the make-up used is very simple and only used to define certain features such as eyebrows and lashes which I replicated but defining the eyebrows with a darker shade, keeping the faces pale and using a rustic colour to define they eyes. The hair on Haim looks like it is naturally like that and hasn’t been done up at all which is also a feature with my models as a part of making the look more relaxed and suggesting to the audience that my models have the attitude to not care what other people think showing they lead confident care free lifestyles like a lot of people are portrayed when involved in the rock industry.
