Mobile lab provides filterimig solutions DIEMME SpA, a market leader in the production of solid/liquid separation equipment, has introduced a mobile laboratory, which will bring solutions to filtration problems directly to the customer. The mobile laboratory has been designed to provide the best technological solutions to a wide variety of filtration processes problems. It comprises the latest technology in filtration including a fully automatic unmanned filter press, with a simultaneous plate discharge and all the necessary analytic instrumentation to verify results. Furthermore, it is able to treat a range of products including highly corrosive or aggressive mediums at various working temperatures. Air filters save energy and destroy bacteria and mould A range of air filter cartridges called Bacti-cell are now available from the Nationwide Filter ‘Co (NFC) Ltd of London, UK. The company claims that independent trials have shown that in use the filters provide energy savings of up to 30%, and a 50% reduction in viable cell count, compared with conventional bag filters. They have a large material area which provides lower initial resistance. According to Nationwide, a typical F8 bag filter can cause a pressure drop of 150 Pa when it is first installed, while a comparable F8 Bacti-cell filter will cause a,hrop of 85 Pa. The increased material area also takes longer to clog. Bactiguard, an anti-microbial agent which is used in the filters, eradicates bacteria, moulds and yeasts when they come into contact with it. Four different grades of Bacti- cell classified as F6 to F9 are available, and there are three standard sizes which handle air volumes up to 1.39ms/s.
