BTS – Solutions for Base Transceiver Stations

RRH – Solutions for Remote Radio Heads

Latest-generation mobile communication systems use remote radio heads (RRH) which allows for greater distances between the base station transceiver (BTS) and the antenna site, reducing the operational costs for the telecoms provider, and enabling more innovative network architectures. Remote radio head systems use fiber-optic links between the base transceiver station (BTS) and remote radio heads (RRH). Our product expertise helps the OEM’s to achieve their aims for modern RRH design.

Space savingMMBX and Megafloat connectors allow the most compact design and interconnec-tion of filter units, power amplifiers, and other modules. This allows for a reduction in size and weight of modules resulting in a massively-reduced mast load and OPEX for the operator.

Low weightThe Polycon family is based on the well-established connector series DIN 7/16 with a polymer body and is designed for flange connectors, used for in- and outdoor applications. Proven characteristics such as durability, high transmission capacity and low passive intermodulation are now complemented with features such as high corrosion-resi-stance, light-weight and cost effectiveness for high and low volumes.

Remote Radio Head Installation

HUBER+SUHNER is the global expert for FTTA (Fiber-to-the-Antenna) and RRH instal-lation, providing complete solutions ranging from planning, product definition, volume production and logistics, to installation services. HUBER+SUHNER is a qualified supplier for all OEM interfaces and feeders between the base transceiver station and RRH.

FTTA solutionsHUBER+SUHNER’s fiber-optic ODC feeder assemblies provide the highest degree of installation safety with the leading connector system ODC. For optimum on-site length flexibility, ODC extension connectors are used for chaining of fiber optic ODC assemblies. Ready-to-install Masterline systems reduce installation costs and save time since only one cable needs to be routed per three or four RRH‘s. Specialized Master-line solutions also allow the feeding of fiber-optic cables into the existing cor-rugated cables yielding further cost savings. Ancillary products like overlength boxes, sealing kits, mounting clamps, etc. allow highest installation flexibility.

Hybrid solutionsCopper-fiber optic hybrid solutions yield faster installation and further benefits for customized installation scenarios. Hybrid assemblies are delivered with terminated fiber-optic and power connectors on both ends.
