Task 2 –Watch my YouTube video from yesterday again and revisit your word bank of adjectives created yesterday.Today you are going to be writing in role as the baby elephant, describing how he is feeling. Think about the following questions when completing your writing – How is the baby elephant feeling about his Mum not waking up? Does he understand what has happened? Is he missing the rest of his troop of elephants? Is he worried he won’t see his troop again? What will happen if the hunters return? Remember when writing in role as a character you become the character and use the words ‘I’ and ‘my’ in your writing.

I have uploaded a document onto the Google Classroom for you to record your writing into or there is a template on the Tiger class page of the website which you can print. You can also complete your recording onto a plain piece of paper.

Task 3 – Rainbow Reading – navigating genresFor today’s learning I would like you to complete some writing about what sort of text you feel ‘The Hunter’ is. Is it a story (fiction) or information (non-ficiton) book? How do you know it is a certain text type? Please use some sentence starters from the Rainbow Reading card ‘navigating genres’ to record your ideas. I have uploaded a document onto the Google Classroom to record this learning into.

Task 4 – Spelling punctuation and Grammar (SPAG) lesson - contractionsWatch the videos found here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z4p2mfr reminding you what a contraction is. Then complete activity 1 and 2. I have added a google document to the classroom where you can complete activity two or you can complete it onto a piece of paper and share with me via the Tiger class email address.

Task 5 – SPAG lesson - ContractionsRead the following poem and identify all the contractions present within the poem. Then record the contractions you have found onto the google document I have added to the classroom, along with the two words that have been joined together. You could also complete this learning onto a piece of paper if you are unable to access the classroom.

There are videos for you to watch. Please discuss your answers with an adult. Please complete one page of the slides each day.

Measurement – Mass, capacity and temperatureFor the next few weeks you will be revisiting measurement but this time you will be exploring; measuring mass (the weight of something), capacity (how much liquid a container holds) and temperature (how hot or cold something is).

Task 1 – CapacityPlease complete the slideshows found at the following link - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkrf382 The slideshows recap your previous learning on capacity.

Once you have complete the slideshows please complete the following capacity quiz. I have uploaded this onto the google classroom and onto the school website.

On the google classroom I have uploaded a document for you to complete reading capacity in ml. I have also uploaded a document onto the Tiger class webpage that you could print and complete if you are unable to access the google classroom.

Task 4 – litres or millilitres In year two we learn that there are 1000ml in a litre. Have a hunt around your home for containers that measure capacity in litres. If you have large fizzy drink or squash bottles you will see that these show capacity in litres. Larger capacities are measured in litres.

On the google classroom there is a sorting activity for you to complete. Sorting containers into whether you think their capacity in measured in litres or ml. I have uploaded a similar activity onto the Tiger class webpage.

Task 5 – FractionsAnother important part of the SATs arithmetic paper being able to find fractions of numbers. Please complete your learning onto a piece of plan paper, showing your working out. You can then record your answers for me to check onto the google document I have added to our google classroom. Revisit my YouTube video on how to find fractions of numbers before solving the questions below – this can be found on the tiger class webpage.

½ of 20 = 1/5 of 10 =¼ of 16 = 1/6 of 18 =¾ of 20 = 1/8 of 24 =

InquiryWe will be continuing our transdisciplinary theme ‘Sharing the Planet’ into term 6.

Within this our central idea would have been – Living things may have different requirements in order to survive.

This term we would have been answering the following questions: What are the different parts of a plant? What do plants need to grow? How do we look after a plant? How are plants adapted to live in different places? Where are animal’s homes? How should we treat an animals home? Why do animals live in different places? How are animals adapted to their environment? What are the different groups of animals? How do animals differ by the foods they eat? What interesting facts can I learn about animals?

Please continue to discuss these questions with your child. Are you able to answer any of them yet? Hopefully by the end of this term we will be able to answer many of these questions.

When we are at school we talk about the Learning Profile Attributes within all lessons and look for example of children demonstrating these attributes throughout the school day. See if you can continue to practise the school’s Learner Profile Attributes whilst completing your learning at home:
