IMPORTANT INFORMATIONMIX STATION/HUB The MIX Station is the place to go for all MIX apparel, books and resources. The MIX hub is where you should go for questions, lost & found, dodge ball signups, etc.

EMERGENCIES & FIRST AID Dial 911 for emergencies. First Aid should be administered by adults from your group. More serious injuries should be directed to the local hospital and communicated to MIX personnel. The staff at MIX CANNOT offer any kind of first aid to your adults or students.

EMERGENCY DESTINATION On the first day of MIX, determine a place where your group should meet in case of an emergency. Select one indoor location (a specific room) and one outdoor location (a parking area, etc.)

LOST & FOUND Lost and Found items will be kept at the MIX hub. Please note that items not claimed at the end of the week will be donated.

MAIL Go to the MIX hub for incoming mail. Outgoing mail should be dropped off at any nearby postal box. There are no outgoing mail services at the MIX hub.

SEATING CHART A seating chart will be posted outside the main entrance to the main session meeting room. The chart will be changed every morning to ensure every group gets a good seat, so be sure to check it on your way into the morning sessions.

MEAL SCHEDULE The color of your wristband will determine your group’s meal time for most meals. See the meal schedule on page __ for complete meal schedule. ADULTS ONLY – You may grab your breakfast at 7:30 in order to be done in time for the Adult Leader Meeting.

MIX-ionaryThe Outer Realm

Students will be blown away by all that happens in The Outer Realm. We will play games, have parties, cookouts, and who knows what else in this outdoor world! We believe that junior high students absolutely have to play. We want to provide the time and space to make this happen in a way they’ve never seen. They will definitely go home with stories to tell their friends from the fun they had in The Outer Realm.

Mix Station

This doubles as the bookstore and information center for all things pertaining to MIX. Merchandise including apparel, books, CDs and such are available for purchase at the MIX Station. This is where you will sign up for tournaments and bring any paperwork that needs to be turned-in. Daily hours of operation are posted at each MIX event location.

Extended Recreation

This is an opportunity for your group to enjoy an extended afternoon free time. This will take place after Skip-A-Meal on Day 4. Groups are free to leave campus and check out sites in the area, participate in a service project of your own initiative or the many activities available on campus. If your group chooses to leave campus, any students staying behind must have an adult leader present.

Group Time

Twice a day, everyone will be dismissed to Group Time. This is an opportunity for your youth group to come together for Bible study and discussion related to the daily theme. This is also a great way to develop meaningful relationships within your group and just enjoy being together. Each youth group will be assigned a location where they will meet. You should be prepared to lead and/or direct your students during this time.

Skip-A-Meal

Once during the week, MIX asks everyone to skip-a-meal. This money is used to help fund Christ In Youth’s International Conferences in places such as India, Ghana, Costa Rica, Philippines, Myanmar and others. Suggested restaurants for groups to dine at may be found on the MIX website.

Dodgeball TournamentYou think you got game? Bring it! But know this at MIX: we have serious fun, but we play by the rules. Therefore, you will find below the proper etiquette, terms, and regulations for our dodgeball tournament. Read the rules, know the rules, and love the rules, because you will play by them. Sign-ups are at the MIX hub, and please remember that the dress code still applies. Rules At most locations, you will be playing on a tennis court. One team will be on each side of the net. We know it is small…but don’t complain, because true champions overcome adversity, so don’t be that guy.

- Only one adult on the floor/court per team - Six team members per team will be allowed on the court during play. - If you get hit anywhere on your body with a ball, YOU ARE OUT. - The tournament is single elimination. - If you catch a ball, the thrower is out, and ONE member of your team who was

out may re-enter. - The only time you may leave the box is to retrieve a ball. - If you step outside the boundaries to dodge a ball YOU ARE OUT. - If a ball is thrown at you and it bounces off a ball you are holding, and you

subsequently drop your ball, YOU ARE OUT. - Head shots are legal: Momma says, “If you are dumb enough to get hit in the

head, you are dumb enough to be out.” - If a ball is thrown at you and it bounces off a ball you are holding and someone

catches it, no one is out. - You must have raving fans that are dressed the part, and as a result of the

competition they must be hoarse from cheering for their team at the end of the tournament.

- If you are a weakling and the force of a ball thrown at you is great enough to knock you out of bounds, BUT you catch the ball. You are safe, the giant who threw the ball at you is out, and one member of your team can come back in.

- At the beginning of the match the dodgeballs must go to the back line before they can go forward…i.e. you can’t just pick up a ball and drill someone from point blank range.

- NO CUSSING - NO TIMEOUTS

**Tournaments may not be offered at every MIX event. Rules are subject to change per MIX staff who are final authority on the court.

***Adults: Only one of you per team may be on the court/floor at one time

Darrell’s Rules and Expectations

Page 8: Mix 2015 Student Guide

MIX 2014

--Distractions are anything that draws your focus and attention away from whatever it is you are doing.—

**Purpose: MIX summer conference is an opportunity to get out of our normal routine and element at home and meet with God in an intimate way free of

distractions. The intent of these rules and expectations is to set boundaries that will enhance this experience.**

1) Follow MIX rules (Previous Page) and Johnson University Campus rules at all times because…

2) …We will be, representing Jesus and Elberton Christian Church to the world while on this trip. So please act accordingly.

3) When curfews are set while at MIX (and there will be curfews) obey them. This might sound childish, BUT they are for your enjoyment of the trip and for your health, yes your health (spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically). This week WILL be draining, so rest is very important to make it the best it possibly can be.

4) Digital Devices (ipads, ipods, tablets, etc) are allowed on the trip under the following conditions:a. Clean music ONLY!!! I know the kind of music that is out there and I or

the other adults on the trip can’t be standing over your shoulder checking the titles on your playlists. “Clean” isn’t just no swearing, “clean” includes themes and topics as well.

b. Must not get in the way of fellowship on the tripc. Must be left in the dorm rooms at ALL TIMES while at MIX. d. Darrell or the present adult sponsor(s) have the authority to take devices

away if any of these conditions are broken.e. If these conditions can’t be met don’t bring these kinds of devices with

you.

5) Cell Phones are allowed on the trip with the understanding that they can only be used for emergency situations or calling home to check in with parents/say goodnight/etc and will be left in dorms unless otherwise instructed by an adult.

6) If you are unsure if something might be a distraction while on the trip, odds are it will be, so don’t act or take part in whatever that maybe.

7) Most important of all, this is a great opportunity to spend close personal time with God, meet new people, and PLEASE HAVE FUN!!!

****Any questions regarding these or any other rules/expectations see Darrell. ****
