PSR and Youth

We are praying and practicing positive thoughts that PSR will resume as normal here at St. Mark’s. Online registrations for the fall PSR classes (P-7) and Confirmation classes (8th graders) can be accessed at https://stmarklancaster.com/y.

Register your child(ren) early, especially for Confirmation and First Communion ages; we need to line up meetings with parents for both Sacraments and engage service projects for the Confirmation Candidates. Call Debra Kaminski at 740-653-1229 if you have questions or wish to enroll by phone.

We are also thinking positive thoughts about next season’s volunteers! It is Catholic Church policy that anyone who volunteers with children MUST complete a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) class and have a completed background check on file. This includes those on our grounds who will be involved with Scouts, as a Catechist, as a PSR room volunteer, homeschool teacher or helper, as kitchen servers for youth projects, babysitters, baseball coaches, or any area where children are present.

NOTE: If you have already completed PGC, you do not need to reapply. There is no charge to you for either the background check or the PGC class.

• The background check requires getting paperwork from Theresa Brunney (in the office) and then going to the BMV for fingerprinting.

• You must register for the Protecting God’s Children class. The classes are conducted through Zoom and the sessions are filling up QUICKLY, so do not delay if there is ANY chance you will be working with children in the coming year. Register online by typing the link below into your browser. Tap enter and a list of classes will come up. Click on the one most convenient for you and complete the form at https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list2.cfm?theOrgID=18023&theme=0.

If you do not have online access or cannot find a convenient class, please call Theresa Brunney at 740-653-1229 for help.

This weekend, we take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America! Many People in Latin America and the Caribbean do not have access to church programs and ministries because of a rising secular culture, difficult rural terrain, and shortage of ministers. Your generosity makes it possible for our brothers and sisters in Latin America and the Caribbean to share in the life of the Church and grow closer to Christ. Please be generous to the special collection! To learn more, please visit www.usccb.org/latin-america.

Enthrone your home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. All the information you need for Enthronement is available at welcomhisheart.com. There are three ways a parishioner can obtain a self-guided Enthronement package: 1) Order a package online to be shipped to your home; 2) Order online digital download; or 3) Call Dan & Sharon Boyden (740-808-0395) or (614-226-7327) to have a package delivered to your home.

Living I Do: Phone time consumes more of our attention than we realize, so it is easy to spend more time with a device than with the person we vowed to love til death! If this is a struggle for you and your spouse, set a time when technology is put down for the night, or have some rooms where using the phone is off limits. This will create space for love to grow between you.

Spiritual Babies Month 6: Our spiritual babies are now at 6 months. Their oil and sweat glands are functioning, helping to regulate their body temperatures. Their bodies are now covered with a biofilm covering that protects their delicate skin from the amniotic fluid. Their lungs are fairly well developed, and they would have a good chance of survival if they were born at this time. Please pray for these babies and pray for their parent’s peace of mind to know that the life they have created is God’s will. At this time, I want to ask that you also pray for all families expecting little ones during the COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you! God bless!!

Formed is available to you. It pulls together the best in Catholic movies, children’s programming, audio dramas and books. St. John Vianney Patron Saint of Priests • August 4

A Prayer for PriestsGracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.
