actions, we live the Truth we know. It is our awareness of these princi-ples that informs our spiritual practice —and this month, we will explore that awareness. Through these principles, we address the Oneness we strive to be—and that brings us back to the

topic of Awareness. So—WHAT is awareness anyway? Simply put, Awareness is the state or ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of events, objects, or sen-sory patterns. In our case, we seek awareness to gain deeper access to our

Oneness with God. On a typical day, our awareness is diluted by all kinds of information — both new and stored in our mental

memory banks. Did you know: The sailfish can swim faster than a

horse can gallop?

Getting to Know Eric Meyer By Cathie Hartman

Where did you grow up and what

brought you to Colorado Springs? I was born and grew up in Colorado Springs.

What brought you to Unity and

how long have you been attending? I

was looking for more educational op-

portunities to become an ordained

priest (but not in the Christian semi-

naries). I saw the Unity website and I

remembered Ahriana and her sermons

that I’ve really loved when I was at

All Souls Unitarian Universalist.

Even though my education is now at

University of Metaphysics, I’m keep-

ing open when I get into the Divinity

degree that I’m thinking of getting

into. My work schedule though may

not work out for that, at least for the

time being.

I’ve been at Unity for about 8-9 months. Wow, what an interesting and involving 8-9 months! What type of work do you do? I work at Memorial Hospital in Radiol-ogy as a clerical worker. I’ve been doing it for almost 15 years.

Tell us a little about your family.

My mom lives here in the Springs.

My father died in 2005 and it had

been really hard on her and after sev-

eral years with alcohol abuse and nu-

merous falls, she is now in a nursing home. I do have several cousins and 2nd and 3rd cousins, but I rarely see them.

What are your hobbies and what

do you like to do for fun? Besides video games, I’ve had interests in re-ligion and spirituality and have done tons of reading and have been taught Healing Touch Level 3 Student practi-tioner. I’ve been thinking of soon learning Reiki. Used to sing in the church choir as a tenor, so I’m hoping to eventually be one of the singers with Connie. I do love music and have even created a few of my own almost 20 years ago. Maybe one day I will share.

What volunteering do you do and

what do you like about it? I haven’t done much volunteering, especially lately. I’ve just gotten done with clos-ing on my mother’s house and that took much of my time but now I have more time. Now that I’m a Prayer Chaplain, I think I will be able to start doing more volunteering.

What was the nicest compliment

you ever received? I think there are two different ones — one is when I’ve been told that I take good care of my mom and her finances. The other is just when I haven’t seen someone for a while and they really seemed to have missed me. Is there anything else you would

like to share with your church fam-

ily? Being new here, I am looking forward to finding new friends and to be able to work with others in a more spiritual sense than I’m even used to. So far, I’m really happy with my new friends and those that I’m working with in the Prayer Chaplain team! I think that Unity provides a lot of opportunities for what I’m thinking of doing in a spiritual sense, such as be-ing able to pray and energy healing, but maybe also for a single man! Whenever that will happen, it might be full of magic!

Holy Week & Easter Events

While Easter is traditionally a Christian celebration, we extend a loving invitation to people of all faiths and

traditions to join us in a four-day experiential exploration of the contemporary lessons we can learn from the

stories that surround this remarkable holiday. How will we bring forth our eternal light? Are we willing to sacrifice

our own self-judgment to awaken to Christ Consciousness and express it in the world?

Palm Sunday The palm branch was a symbol of triumph and victory in Jewish tradition. Because of this, the scene

of the crowd greeting Jesus by waving palms and carpeting his path with them and their cloaks has

become symbolic and important. Special Guest, Rev. Lawrence Palmer, brings us a deeper look at the

significance of Palm Sunday. Palms will be provided to all in attendance. Sunday, March 24th, 9 am and 11 am

Unity Potluck & Communion Gathering "Maudy Thursday" commemorates the Last Supper. Imagine how Jesus might have felt on

this night. Imagine how you might feel if you knew this would be the last time you gathered

with your Unity Family. What wisdom might you wish to share? We will gather in love and

appreciation for each other and share food and meaningful conversation. Bring a healthy, love-

filled dish to share with your Unity CommUnity. Thursday, March 28th, 6 pm in Fellowship Hall

Good Friday Service "Are We Worthy?" Bypassing more traditional ideas of Good Friday, we step forward to acknowledge

where our issues of worthiness stop us from living through our indwelling Christ Mind. Through guided

meditation, prayer and song, we willingly release our self-judgment and doubt, as we prepare ourselves

for the Emergence of the Sacred Self. Friday, March 29th, 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary

24-hour Prayer Vigil What happened between the time of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection? We imagine that there was a sense of loss,

suffering, stillness and waiting. We gather as the loving expression of the Divine, to be present to this loss, to

hold space for healing, and to shine the Eternal Light of hope. We invite each member of the community to

make time to join us, for whatever length of time you wish, between 9 am Saturday morning and end at 9 am

on Sunday morning, to pray, meditate or simply be present in our sanctuary as our community sends its love

to those experiencing loss and suffering in our world. Our Sanctuary will be open for this 24 hour period.

You may come, light a candle, and leave — or stay as long as you wish to support this vigil. Saturday, March 30th, in the Sanctuary

Easter Sunday Services Celebrate the Christ Consciousness that is risen in you. The resurrection is the raising up of the whole man—

spirit, soul and body—into the Christ consciousness of life and wholeness. Jesus is the way-shower. How did he do

it? Every time we rise to the realization of eternal, indwelling life, the resurrection takes place in us. How do we

achieve the unparalleled possibility revealed by the empty tomb? Services at the regular time, 9 and 11 am

Annual Easter Egg Hunt On Easter Sunday we will have an Easter Egg hunt for children ages toddler through grade

school, beginning 15 minutes after the completion of the 11am service. Please ensure that your

young ones get signed out of Fillmore Center and are ready to go by 12:30. For more information

Past Life Regression This is not a class on religious theology. Reiki Sessions Offered If you don’t know what Reiki is, or if you have never

had a Reiki treatment, you are missing out. Reiki is the

Japanese word which means "Universal

Life Energy. That is the energy that per-

meates all that is—including us. We use

this energy for healing and growth. All

you have to do is to be open to receive

this energy that the Reiki Practitioners of

Unity are offering.

Here's how it works, each table will

have four Reiki practitioners per table for

each client. So the treatment will only take 15 to 20 min-

utes each. This way we can treat three clients an hour.

There is a appointment sheet with appointment cards on

the bulletin board in the foyer. Sign up for the time that’s

best for you. Please wear comfortable clothes and socks.

Peace are part of this timeless tradition of Sacred Dance.

February saw our YOU Chapter go to a Masquerade Ball hosted by YOU Denver. This yearly event was a joy and helped us stay in touch with the rest of our Mountain Community dur-ing this time between Regional events. In attendance were Chris, Haley and Simone, they had a blessed time. The Sunday morning lesson given by the Denver YOU was “what masks do we wear.” It was thought provoking to say the least.

During the month of March our field of study will be the Unity monthly theme, “Awareness.” Each class will look into the meaning of awareness at an age appropriate level. In addition the YOU and Uniteen classes will plan and prepare our an-nual Egg hunt on Easter Sunday which is early this year on March 31st.

We would like to welcome 3 new Sacred Servants to our program; Mark Platten, Ann Luciani and Lin Kobee have joined us and are now on the monthly schedule. If you would like to be a part of the excitement in Youth Ministries, please consider signing up to be a Sacred Servant here at the Fill-more Center. This Month we would like to honor Cathie Hartman for her Sacred Service. She helps some as an Office volun-teer. She taught for Fillmore House in 2011 and early 2012. She has been on the Women's Retreat Committee. She also sometimes helps with celebra-tions, meditations. She sometimes hosts healing workshops and the women's book club.

She loves to fill in when she can, help when I'm there. In fact, she really like offering a spontaneous hand, being there when something needs to be done and doing what she can.

And last but not least, she handles the “Getting to Know” column getting the people lined up for each month and making sure that the editor has the copy by deadline. This is a big job, and takes a big load off of the editor.

The “Ballad of MuLan” is a Chinese myth (5th-6th century CE) about a woman who disguises herself as a soldier to take her elderly father’s place in the Emperor’s army. While many people only know MuLan through the popular but less than accurate Disney movie, the original myth has powerfully captured the Chinese imagination for centuries up to the present time. The story of MuLan is both quintessentially Chinese and timelessly universal. It is dated in antiq-uity but still speaks to us today. The myth tells us what to take for the journey and how to find the courage and tenacity to fight for one’s inner vision. Each line of MuLan has the power of a dream where the unconscious wastes nothing. Dr. Chao will seek to amplify the sym-bols and explore the richness these lines hold for both men and women.

Jung Society:

Jung Society Workshop Journeys for Women and Men: How the Chinese Myth of Hua MuLan can help us become warriors, sustain us on the journey and bring us peace and acceptance. We are always called to journey. In this workshop we will explore the journeys we have taken in our lives and how we can find the courage to keep setting out into the unknown. We will explore psycho-logical as well as practical methods that help us “keep on keeping on.” We will examine how to differentiate the rewards offered by the collective ver-sus what will fulfill our truest selves. We will examine other stories from Native American and Jewish sources that reflect the themes found in the myth Hua MuLan. We will explor these themes using songs, poetry, dreams and quotes from C.G. Jung. Participants will also have the op-portunity to create a collage of their

own journey. For reservations, call: (719) 527-0622. Christine M. Chao, Ph.D., currently in private practice, is a licensed clinical psychologist and a diplomate Jungian Analyst. She has had a longstanding interest in Asian and Asian American psy-chology and has published articles in this area. Other interests include the significance and function of an-cestral altars, and how Jungian work can help open up “seats at the wel-come table” for people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Oneness—And from the place of One-

ness, there is no collective mind.

There is only One. One thought—One

heart—One creation.

lective Mind is and how it Differs

from Divine Mind—and to reach

more deeply into our deep selves—

into the temple where our Awareness
