DIRECTORY OF PRINCIPAL CRUSHED STONE PRODUCERS

IN THE UNITED STATES IN 2006 A total of 1.72 billion metric tons of crushed stone valued at $13.8 billion, free on board at plant, was reported produced in the

United States in 2006 by 1,367 companies with 3,212 operations and 3,358 active quarries. A total of 193 sales yards was also operated by some of the crushed stone producing companies.

Most of the crushed stone produced in 2006 came from operations with output larger than 300,000 metric tons per year; 1,626 operations, representing 51% of the total number of active operations, produced 92% of the total tonnage.

The 10 leading producing States were, in descending order of tonnage, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, Ohio, and Tennessee, which accounted for 53% of the total output of crushed stone.

The companies listed in table 1 are not included in table 2 when the company is not a leading producer in a given State.
