A huge thank you to Charmaine Trewarn for all her hard work in putting this night together and overseeing its entire coordination. It was a wonderful celebration and your hard work has been greatly appreciated.

WORKING BEE Last Sunday we had a group of parents who worked very hard and did a variety of jobs around the school such as: mulching, blowing and sweeping up leaves, weeding, pruning and generally tidying the school grounds. It looks much better and contributes to the Milgate PS environment. Afterwards everyone enjoyed morning tea together. Thank you to all the families who came and worked together for our school.

THE WORLD’S GREATEST SHAVE Last Monday at assembly, Eamon 4CS, very bravely had his head shaved to raise money for Leukemia through the ‘World’s Greatest Shave’ program. Eamon had his head shaved last year and has not had it cut since then. As Eamon said, “It is so he would know what it’s like to have his head shaved like people who have leukemia.”. It was a great thing to do to support the Leukemia Foundation. Thank you to those people who sponsored him and contributed towards his fundraising.

SCHOOL CUMMUNITY NEWS Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy On Tuesday 21 March, father and founder of Save Our Sons, Elie Eid, will begin a tough 300km walk around the Bay of Melbourne to help raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. On Fri 31 March, one of our Milgate families – the Percy family - James (Dad), Kai (Year 4), Luc (Year 2) in his wheelchair and Angelique (Mum) - will be joining the final part of the 300km walk. While Kathy (Grandma) will be waiting for them at the finish line. Funds raised by the Walk to Save Our Sons will go towards:

Ongoing Research, which is so vital in the attempt to find ways to combat this life threatening disease.

Medical equipment to improve the quality of life of Duchenne children.

Placing a specialised Duchenne nurse in every Australian children’s hospital.

Scientific research and clinical trials to find a cure for Duchenne.

A specialist nurse is already funded for two years at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne with the aim of raising funds for a third year.

Please support this amazing cause if you are able and help us to save our sons and rare daughters. https://saveoursons.giveeasy.org/campaigns/the-percy-family/
