Presentation Notes
The growth in Mobile data usage forces carriers to consolidate fixed, mobile, and internet into a single network, that drove a stronger growth in Ethernet mobile backhaul. Mobile network require synchronization, frequency and Time synchronization, without that base station band and time slot utilization will collide and mobile network would NOT function. Microsemi offers solutions for the synchronization of mobile backhaul all the way to the base station. Growth in user traffic challenge carrier’s existing network architecture. Service provides are deploying more IP routers and switches, but they still need to support traditional synchronous services and the mobile network. Microsemi timing is the dominant player in Packet network Synchronization using technologies such as Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588. The need to consolidate the traditional SONET/SDH traffic with IP traffic and the traffic of storage and data network, drove the growth of OTN infrastructure equipments, OTN adds intelligence to the network supporting different services, OTN deployments use timing transparency for the individual clients and that demands the use of Microsemi timing solution for each client.

Presentation Notes
This is a summary of who are the other players in this market.. Though, Microsemi are leaders in the application we support. Timing for comms is a large market (close to $600Million), though different player compete in different aspects of the business with different feature set We attempted here to provide a summary based on level of integration and Performance (output Clock noise and ability to drive high speed links, 10G, 40G, 100G) Others such as Semtech, might have similar levels of integration, though they require a multichip solution to be able to drive the physical layer interface… Silicon labs might have good output clock noise performance, but they significantly lack in features and integration, they offer no packet timing standard compliant solutions.
