    Proverbs chapter 9.

Summary: Wisdom and folly both invite all the simple-minded persons to their respective

houses. Jesus Christ invites sinners to come to house of wisdom, repent and follow the ways

of the righteous. The evil invites sinners to enter the house of sin, en!oy the pleasures of

sin, !oin the company of the spiritual dead, leading them to hell.

The house of Wisdom has seven pillars. Seven is a sign/mark for completeness and perfection. So

the house of Wisdom is entirely strong.

Wisdom organises a feast/party, and sends out her servants to proclaim the invitation. The invited

guests are the "simple" people ho lacks understanding. The simple and ordinary people are invited

to eat/dine and ine ith Wisdom, ith !od. The simple and ordinary are invited to abandon foolish

ays, and take the ay of understanding/insight.

hrist has been offered as sacrifice for all people. #eat $hrist%s body& and ine $hrist%s blood& as

served at the feast. 'll sinners are invited to come to !od, and live righteously in line ith !od%s

    commands and teachings.

To be an effective folloer, e must shun the unrighteous ays $forsake foolishness, leave

simpleness&. 'nd alk in the ay of insight/understanding.

I interpret "the fear of the Lord" as "loving and honouring the Lord our

God" because "Love God" with our heart, mind and soul is our greatest

commandment. Fearing the Lord can be mean many things: honour

God, be afraid of God, respect God, putting God first. I personally feel

"honouring God" will be my one phrase interpretation. Because when

we honour God, we definitely will put God as our high if not op

priority, we will respect God, we will obey God.

Folly, the opposite of wisdom, is illustrated as a foolish, unruly, noisy woman. In those times, a lady

or decent woman was one who was quiet and soft-spoken. So an unruly and noisy woman is hence

portrayed as the opposite of a ladylike woman, a foolish woman.

Folly is simple, and contains nothing (no knowledge, no laws, no commands, no teachings, no

ethics). Folly is the easy path, jus t like the path of wickedness, the path of eil, the path of the !ad.

"n the contrary, #isdom is the difficult and challenging path, which is the path of righteousness and

just. #isdom comes packaged with understanding, insight and knowledge. #isdom is enhanced !y

    commands$laws, instructions and teachings.

%ust like #isdom is proclaimed, propagated and pu!lici&ed widely to eeryone in the world, s imilarly

folly is also propagated and pu!lici&ed to eeryone in the world. %esus 'hrist inites all sinners to go

to im, repent, and follow is ways of righteousness. he *eil also inites all sinners to follow the

foolish ways, simple and easy-going ways, which eentually lead to self destruction and spiritual

    death.

    -56/0

he *eil loes to inite simple-minded people especially those without understanding$common

sense, to turn in and enter his house, to go oer to his side. he *eil entice people with greed and

!ad doings. +amples could !e greed of money and riches, gam!ling, !etting, lottery, stealing,

ro!!ing, coeting other mans wife, and the arious forms of g reed. dultery, fornication, etra

marital affairs, unethical use of other peoples money, !ri!ery are some of the /!read eaten in

secret./ he *eil tempts in ery c rafty and su!tle manner, just like the serpent tempted +e in the

    0arden of +den.

/1read eaten in secret is pleasant./ here are many thiees who stole, !ut did not get caught, or did

not get conicted and sent to jail. 2o!!ers ro!!ed and gain money and wealth of others, yet they did

not get caught, and were not punished. dulterers who slept with o ther mens wies continued their

illicit affairs without !eing punished nor chastised. he *eil tells the sinners, /3ook, you sin, and

you gain. 4ou hae nothing to lose. 4ou dont get punished. 4ou sow eil, !ut your harest is still

plenty./ 5unishment awaits those eildoers at the gate of hell.

he simple-minded people who follow the ways of folly, the ways of the *eil, are walking among the

spiritual dead, and eentually will end up in hell.
